Gilbert Residence

Same Night

"Stefan," Elena whimpered in a small, low voice, "can you come over for dinner? Or can I come over there? I really need to see you."

Stefan knew something was wrong, "Ah, I was just with Damon, but let me ask. Can you hang on a sec?"

"Yeah, sure," Elena said. She was on her bed sideways. Her backside was still hot and felt tight where Ric's new antique paddle had lambasted her rump. She rubbed and grimaced. Matt snickered as he did his homework sitting on the window seat. Elena always helped him with his algebra. Tonight though, she seemed clueless and distracted.

Stefan came back on the phone, "Elena, they said you can come here. We are having burgers. Can you drive over?"

"Ah, yeah. I will say we have to do a project," Elena hissed as she tried to sit up. Matt laughed louder and Elena threw a pen at him.

"Fair warning. Hope you aren't too hungry. The burgers might be stuffed with foie gras. The Mikaelsons have some pretty fancy tastes. Last night we had escargot and caviar. They had to order a pizza for April," Stefan laughed lightly.

"Whatever. I'm coming right over," Elena said and abruptly hung up.

Matt looked up, "Before you go, can you help me with number 16. The odds are in the back of the book, but I can't figure this one out."

Elena sneered, "My ass hurts too much. Ask Matt. Gotta go. See ya later."

"Are you even allowed to go? You should probably ask," Matt suggested.

Elena made a clicking sound with her tongue, "Yeah, almost forgot. I'll make something up..." She walked out without another word.

Matt looked after her in puzzlement. Elena never left him hanging like this. She hadn't been herself.

Mikaelson Mansion

Klaus knew Elijah wanted him to subjugate himself and stand in the corner before punishment, but his pride would not allow it. He was the strongest being on earth now. Sure, his siblings and Mikael were powerful, but Klaus now was truly half-wolf. He could feel his animal nature inside him now. Could he submit to his brother's discipline? He had brought the switch up and laid it on the bed. It felt smooth and made a whistling sound as his swung it from side to side. The bloody thing would welt his arse, Klaus thought with a sigh.

Had he been wrong?

Or was he wronged?

Klaus brushed a hair through his hair and kicked off his shoes. He knew Elijah would never truly hurt him. He had forgiven Klaus so much, maybe too much. Their mother, Celeste, and countless other mistakes. Klaus started to make his way to the corner when the door burst open.

"I thought I told you to strip and put your nose in the corner, Niklaus?" Elijah scolded. If he had sounded less angry, and more disappointed, Klaus may have been more penitent. But the reprimand raised Klaus' own ire and caused him to revolt.

"Brother, I brought the switch up here. I was able to...," Klaus attempted.

"Enough excuses, perhaps I need to start adding on punishments?" Elijah suggested.

"No, 'Lijah, upsetting you has been punishment enough. You know I cannot stand it when you are angry with me," Klaus retorted.

Elijah softened a moment, "It is true. I know you cannot tolerate one of us upset with you, even when you deserve it. Would you sit down a moment? We could discuss this like adults?"
