Gilbert Residence
Basement
Jeremy hauled another box off the shelf. He had offered to clean out the basement to make room for a nursery. Since Matt was in Uncle John's old room, the other bedroom had a bunch of old stuff that needed stored. But Ric was cluttering up the storage space in the basement.
"I think Ric is a hoarder. Why does he keep bringing all this crap home?" Jeremy complained.
"History? He should open up a museum. Hey Jer, look at this!" Bonnie said in excitement. "It looks super old!"
"Is that a time capsule?" Jeremy asked. "We did one of those in like 5th grade."
"Yeah, weird. Why was in this dusty old box? Aren't you supposed to bury these and seal them? Let's open it," Bonnie said as she opened the rusty metal tube.
"Maybe we shouldn't....Old letters? What's the date? That looks sharp, don't cut yourself," Jeremy said pointedly as Bonnie cut herself.
"Damn! That is sharper than it looks. Get me that rag," Bonnie said, but she had already bled into the contents of the time capsule. Jeremy gave her a clean dishrag from the clothes basket.
"Are you okay? Maybe we should go to the hospital?" Jeremy suggested.
"Shut up. I'll have Caroline heal me at the party," Bonnie said. "What is the date there?"
"1903? That's weird. Everything is dated November 1, 1903," Jeremy said. "Look at this thing."
"It looked like a thing from the Da Vinci Code movie. Shit, I got blood on it," Bonnie said. "Let's open it up. It could have some code or treasure in it. Damn, it won't budge. It is stuck. You try."
"I never saw that movie," Jeremy said, as he tried to wedge open the metal contraption. "But it is not opening...Can you use your magic to open it?"
"I'll try," Bonnie held the metal object and spoke an incantation. "Nada. Maybe later?"
Jeremy's phone rang, he talked briefly and then hung up.
"Tyler said they found some mauled campers near Fell's Church. He is there now. He said to go over and we can also watch the lunar eclipse...It should be starting. Then, we can head to the Mikaelsons for the party."
"Cool, let's go," Bonnie said. She threw the metal object into her purse and they left. "Maybe I'll try to open this near the old church. There is some weird powerful witchy ground there. It could work. I could also draw on the power of the eclipse. We could get rich with treasure."
"Awesome," Jeremy said. "Maybe I could quit the Grill?"
Later, Bonnie tried the spell again and then, when Liz Forbes' deputies shooed the teens away, she hastily left the object on the rocks near the old church.
Mikaelson House Warming Party
"Welcome friends, neighbors, and classmates of Mystic Falls," Klaus started. "It is with great pleasure that our family has returned to our home from many centuries ago. Some of you look confused, rightly so. No, the Mikaelsons were not founding families, we were here before that. Our family farm was on the land the beloved Mystic Grill is on today. Of course, we only know that through very old maps and no official records of that time survive, so you will have to take my word on that. Ah, my brothers are giving me the looks that I am yet again, droning on. There is an old Viking saying, 'No one is a total fool if he knows when to hold his tongue.' Ha! Please make yourself at home here at our new estate. We will start with a non-alcoholic toast, due to all the children present. A toast to Mystic Falls and the warm welcome this town has extended us. And enjoy the lunar eclipse, a rare event on a special night for a very special town. Skol! Always and forever!"
