Just so we're clear

Luna was very much enjoying being in a relationship with James Potter.

Honestly, the newly found relationship wasn't a shock to any of their friends (sparing Sirius of course), but to the rest of Hogwarts, it was the biggest piece of gossip since the Triwizard tournament.

Naturally, there were the most insane rumours formed about the new couple:

'Luna's dying and her final wish was to be loved'

'James was brainwashed by a love potion'

'Their both secretly gay and the only way they can be with the people they really want to it to fake being together'

'Sirius had convinced James to date Luna because he was worried that she was gay'

'James asked her out as a joke...but she said yes...'

Of course none of these were true, but they still managed to make James and Luna laugh. It had become a sort of routine for them to squish onto the smallest chair in the Gryffindor common room together every evening and laugh about whatever new rumour they head overheard during the day.

And that's exactly what they were doing, on a cold, rainy Thursday evening, having made their way to the common room separately after dinner (even through Luna wasn't technically allowed in there, McGonagall tended to turn a blind eye after seeing how genuinely happy she had become). Across the common room, at one of the tables, Sirius was doing his charms homework, a shock to everyone that knew him, however it was mainly because he was 1 missed homework away from failing, and Remus as sitting in front of the fire reading Luna's copy of Alice in Wonderland, laughing every time he came to one of her annotations. Peter was still at dinner, having told the others to go without him after one of the girls from Beauxbatons had came and sat with him.

"Pete looked happy" Luna whispered to the boy who had his arms wrapped around her

"He did, I'm glad, we all need some happiness in this world" James whispered right back, as an even bigger smile grew on his face for his best friends happiness

"Oh yeah?" Luna asked in a low voice, a voice James had learned that often lead to them snogging

Leaning forward so there was barely an inch between their lips, James smirked, whispering "Yeah" before closing the distance.

However, before they were able to do anything, a "Fucking hell!" was yelled across the common room, along with the sound of a quill being slammed down. Looking over, the couple saw that Sirius was running his fingers through his hair, crumpling up a peace of parchment, then tossing it into a pile that had been steadily growing over the evening

"Merlin Siri," Luna called out, growing worried about her brother, first he was doing homework, and now he hadn't give up and gone crawling to Remus for the answers? He must be sick or something "bring it over here!"

Not looking up from his new, blank parchment, Sirius yelled "Your a 6th year Looney, you haven't even been taught half the stuff on this page!"

Rolling her eyes, Luna said quite simply "I'm sure I'll figure it out. I got and O in charms, just let me have a look"

Setting his jaw, Sirius called back stubbornly "Fuck off, I don't need your help!"

That was the Sirius Luna knew, stubborn until the very end. "Fail then, I don't really care!" She yelled, turning her attention back to her boyfriend, who had been laughing at the siblings exchange.

"Yes you do" was all he said as he stared down into Luna's eyes

"What?"

"You do care" James clarified, moving his hand to brush the stray bits of hair that had fallen across her face
