Chapter 9 second and third stages

Hazel Pov

I opened my eyes and all I could see was darkness, for a second I thought I was back at the Aphrodite cabin in the middle of the night. But I soon realized I was still in Father Chaos's throne room, looking up at the ceiling. I looked to my side and saw the others slowly waking up and sitting up rubbing their eyes.

We were still human looking for now, but I knew we wouldn't be for very long. The others were already awake and standing looking at Father Chaos for more instructions. "What now?" Will asked.

"Now, we start the second stage. I must warn you it might hurt some. I've only gotten to this stage a few times and it was in large quantities. So I'm not sure what will happen."

"What do you mean by large quantities?" Annabeth asked, to be honest I was curious as well.

"I give these powers to my armies, each of their powers are different though. So don't be surprised if you each look different of have different powers."

"What can we expect from this stage?" I asked.

"I once had a person who was like a star fish; he could grow limbs back at an astonishing rate. Another could bring someone from the brink of death to their peak performance. Many of my soldiers also have new or changed appendages. For example, we have an elephant lion in the ranks as well as a leopard hybrid too. Honestly it's a tossup of what you will get. The good part is you are past the hard part. This should be less painful than getting your powers."

"Alright let's do this." Will said pumping his fists into the air. We all smiled at his enthusiasm. We gathered into a huddle around Chaos waiting for the second stage to start.

"Alright everyone separate, I have to do these separate or else something might go wrong." We did as he said and went to different areas of the large throne room. He walked over to Will and put his hands on Will's head. He spoke more words in an ancient language like he had during the first stage. Will sank to the floor as this happened, his body glowed a faint yellowish sunrise color. When Chaos was finished he turned to us.

"He doesn't look any different." I said looking over at Will's slumped body.

"It normally happens slowly, plus he could be one of the ones to have different powers instead of appendages. Now, who's next?"
