Chapter 22

Hazel Pov

"Alright every one. " I said trying to get the campers attention. I looked over at Will silently telling him to help. He put his fingers to his lips and blew. The team had already covered their ears for the impact of his shrill taxi whistle. I smirked as the campers ducked and covered their own ears in response. I saw a wave of recognition across my brother's face as the whistle ended. "Thank you Solaris, alright everyone we are going to play roman war games. It's like capture the flag but we made different rules. Rule one: no killing, or maiming. Rule two: if you are told to use your powers use only them. The chaos team will not be using their extra appendages. In this game we will not make huge bases, it will be like capture the flag, hide it as best as possible. That is all. Andra can you split them up please?"

Annabeth grinned, "I'd love too. First team: Hermes, Apollo, Aphrodite, and Ares cabins. Second team: Zeus, Demeter, and Hectate cabins. Third team: Hades, Athena, and Dionysus cabins. Fourth team: Poseidon, Hephaestus, and Iris cabins. My team will go where they want. First team you get four cabins because the others get the big three; other teams don't whine. That's it, have at it." She turned to us. "Go to your parents cabin, Zoë go with Luke, come on Hazel, Castor, let's go meet our families." She smiled again and strode off not waiting for us to follow.

We walked over to our families, I saw Nico and immediately wanted to run and hug him. He had grown over the years we were away; he must have waited to become immortal. He looked over at me and it seemed that his eyes could see past anything, even my hood. He tilted his head and glided over to me.

"Do I know you?" he asked with his head still tilted.

I smiled slightly wanting to tell him right there. Then I remembered Frank and stopped my mouth from spewing what I really wanted to say. Instead I said the opposite, "no I don't think so, I would have remembered, I'm very good at that." Then I saw one of the rarest things of all, not one of the gems I used to bring to the surface on accident, no it was a smile from Nico. I had not seen one in a long time.

He leaned in, "good to see you again Hazel, I've missed you. Come to our cabin later I want to talk to you freely." He stood straight and walked away while I was left with a smile and hope that things would turn for the better.

I had just gotten to my siblings when a small fight broke out. Jacob was trying to get the rest of his siblings to follow him. He wasn't a great leader but he got the job done and he was the best strategist out there. "What's going on here?" I asked getting their attention.

"Owl, they won't listen to me. Please help," Jacob begged running to my side. He had grown a back bone from the last time I checked in on the camp.

"Alright I will. Athenians battle strategy, go." I pointed to a random sibling of mine. "Hades, Dionysus kids listen up."

The kid I pointed to had started rambling by now and was piecing together a plan of action. "You, you, you," he pointed at a bunch of random kids some with little to no experience. "Border patrol, I'll take a few campers to get the second team's flag. Owl, Jewel, and Red. Do you mind going after the other two flags?" he looked at us not sure he wanted us to do anything less than that.

"Not at all, as long as we bring Nico." I replied keeping up with the pace of his plan. He nodded and looked at some of the other campers.

"Is that all?" he asked. I simply nodded. He sighed and put the rest of the campers on guard duty.

~Time skip cause everyone hates them and I'm too lazy to write anything in between~

Soon after we had gotten our armor and weapons we planted our flag in the woods near Zeus's fist. As we waited for the conch horn to sound us four in charge of getting two of the flags talked. It was good that Nico was talking to us freely, well as much as we could surround by family. He had figured out who some of us were, I'm guessing because his powers over the dead helped some. I wanted to ask him about things that happened over the few years that we were missing.

My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the conch horn sounding its loud belching tone. I looked at the others and gave my 'go' signal. Nico was not allowed to use his underworld powers in this game, considering he could shadow travel there and back in five seconds, or create a horde of bone people to take down offenders. So he had to run like a normal person. As we weaved between the trees all I wanted to do was stretch my wings and fly above the trees scouting for the flag like it was my prey. Which it sorta was. But I wasn't allowed to use them so I kept them in tight trying to create less drag.

As we zipped by a few border patrol guards for the other teams tried to catch us and we would take turns parrying blows and knocking them out, each person trying to outdo the one before them. As we reached the first flag I noticed a few Apollo kids guarding the flag that were going to be easy enough to knock out. Though the Hectate kids on the other side of the clearing were going to be a little tougher. I signaled for Castor to slip around the Hectate kids and knock them out. As he did so the rest of us turned to the flag and its guards. Hazel went from around them and in us making a circle around them and closing in fast. Castor joined us in moments of being gone.

Just then the guards noticed us. I smirked and lunged at one, raising my sword it knocked into his. We fought for a while I got a little tired of it and ended up knocking his sword out of his hand and driving the butt of my sword to his head effectively knocking him out. The others were just finishing up with the other three and I grabbed the flag. It disappeared with a flash of light.

Some of the Hectate kids had enchanted the flags to do this and return to the base of the person who touched it. It was pretty cool when you think about it.

We trekked on to the next team, hoping no one got our flag and the rest of our team was getting their designated flag as well. We ran again occasionally taking down a few runners trying to get other flags.

When we reached the last team the flag was still there, completely abandoned. I was wary of the situation but kept going. Signaling for the others to stay back I slunk towards the flag keeping my eyes and ears open for signs of ambush. I heard a slight change in my surroundings as I reached the flag. Before I could touch it someone grabbed my hand and pulled me back, causing me to stumble a bit and almost trip if that same person hadn't still been holding my arm.

I looked up at them ready to blow a gasket. Instead my breath hitched, it was Percy. I wasn't sure he was going to actually try today.

His face was set in a calm placid look, not the happy one I had saw fleetingly one day, or the lonely, despair filled one that I had seen that first day back. I was a little stunned that he had caught me; I stood up straight and shook my arm from his hold, getting ready to fight him.

With no hesitation he lunged at me and tried to disarm and knock me out. Though thanks to me being one of the best fighters on my team I dodged and avoided him. My instincts kicked in and I fought with him.

He kept swinging and I kept dodging, I tried to get at him a few times but ended up getting only his cloths or air, he had gotten the same result with me.

The others weren't getting very far, they were being held back by a few good fighters and a wall of water that Percy obviously had made. As my mind wandered I didn't notice that Percy was getting me closer to the edge of that same water wall I was looking at seconds before. Suddenly he had me on the ground, my sword off to the side out of my reach.

My breath hitched at how close he was to me, I could hear the water wall being beat upon, as if people were trying to get through. He continued to peer down at me, his face still a mask of calm. His eyes however were totally different; they held every emotion he wasn't saying. I tried to get him off of me, or at least get his attention off of the wall. But he held me down, my hands by my head held by his own. His legs were beside my hips, trying to keep my feet on the ground. "Who are you really, Owl?"

I was taken aback by his question; his words were filled with malice and something I couldn't quite place. "I'm Andra."I said as I got ready for the plan I had just finished in my head. I brought my feet into position and flipped him towards the wall, using my feet against his. He was flung into the wall, causing my shoulders to roll and almost pop out of place. His concentration over the water wall began to waver and fell letting my comrades into the little circle he had made.

There was a bright flash of light as the flag teleported back to our base. A conch horn sounded in the distance.

We had just won the game. But I was out like a light.
