Chapter 29

Percy Pov

I wanted to so badly turn around and crush Annabeth into a hug and keep her there, keep her safe.

That won't happen now, it'll have to wait. Maybe I'll return the favor of judo-flipping her to the ground like she did to me all those years ago. When I got closer to the fray of the battle I noticed the camper numbers dwindling. We were getting weaker by the second. I looked up to see Annabeth, with her hood down, slashing at the airborne enemies. Turning back to the monsters at hand I helped some younger sword wielding kids fight off some empousi. It went on like this for a while, me fighting where I was needed most. A few times I was next to the other chaos solders; I never once took my attention off the thing I was fighting in front of me.

The lessons each of the chaos soldiers gave us helped in the long run. I was using my powers more and saw many kids around me doing both powers and physical fighting. Once I ran in the path of a charm speaker and almost skewered my stomach like a shish kabob.

It was about two hours into the fight when I thought we had no hope left, so many of the campers were injured, or down for good. The monsters just kept coming, some I even recognized as roman. There were screams all around me, I had no idea if the remaining seven were ok, or even in the fight anymore. I hoped to the gods that they were alive.

Suddenly there was an ear-splitting scream, one that was all too familiar to me. Four others soon followed in close areas. My eyes went wide with terror, "ANNABETH!" I yelled heading towards where I heard her scream.

"PIPER!"

"CALYPSO!"

"WILL!"

"HAZEL!"

As I rushed her way I saw Jason, Nico, Leo, and Frank sprinting in the same direction. I stopped when we reached each other. "She was right here." I said looking around madly.

"Where is she? I heard her." Frank mumbled to himself looking down at the ground, searching for any clue as to where she was.

"I heard her, I know it!" Jason said frantically trying to find her.

"Where is she? She should be here! I heard her scream!" Leo was slashing at the monsters that dared to come near us, getting all of his anger out at the missing girl.

"I just got him back." Nico said looking longingly at the ground, his fist clenched at his side.

"They're gone," I whispered. "Where are you Annabeth?" I said looking to the sky.

"We need to find them," Jason said. We turned in his direction.

"But who would take them?" I asked, ever the seaweed brain I am.

We all thought for a moment, who would want to torture them and kill them? Who would want to do such things to these people who we hold so dear to us? "It was Cally, and her friends." Nico spoke up, it made the most sense.

"Jason, behind you." I said as a monster approached his turned back. He swung around and decapitated it.

"Where would they hide them?" he asked once the golden dust erupted from the monster and he had turned to face the rest of us.

"I can try and track them, I can feel them, they're not too far off, but it's getting fainter. They must be moving, and fast." Nico said turning in a direction and starting to walk that way, he must be going in the direction they were headed.

I whistled for Blackjack while Jason summoned Tempest and Frank turned into a huge eagle. Leo had called a fighting Festus down as soon as Nico started to talk. Nico went with Frank who had taken the lead. I'm coming for you Annabeth.
