Chapter 35

Leo Pov

When we got to the cave Nico told us to touch down by we immediately made quick work of the surrounding monsters and demigods. Our rides stayed outside to defend us and stay for a quick escape.

Nico was in the lead with Frank right next to him. We each followed slowly after just waiting for an attack or any monster that might come my way. "Guys," Nico had stopped a few steps ahead and was looking at the ground.

"Is that what I think it is?" Frank spoke.

"Yep, it definitely is." Jason said next to them.

"What? What is it?" I pushed next to them and looked to the ground. There was a small piece of gold on the ground. Slowly, we watched it sink back in the ground. Down the path another gem popped up from the ground.

"They're here; follow the gems Hazel knows we're here, we'll find them faster now." Frank said walking off in the 'Hazel directed path'.

Soon the gems started getting farther apart and we ran along with them. Suddenly they disappeared all together we all stopped and looked around. The path continued on for a while, we each got out our respective weapons, Jason ending up with a sword this time. The tunnel was shorter than I had expected, and we soon came to a jewel encrusted door way, well more like a cavern entrance that was encrusted with gems and metals.

We heard voices different ones that ran together and were spouting random things, I caught some of the sporadic conversation. "...people who love and trust us, umm... guys I'm running out of things." We heard Will's voice say. "It was a long list though; hey do you guys have anything else? I mean I'm running out of things to say."

"Is that Will?" I asked.

Nico had a sly smile on his face, "he can be very annoying when he wants to be." His smile dropped. "We need a game plan; Hazel knows we're here so it won't take long for them to notice us either."

"Nico and Frank send some skeletons in and we'll follow," Jason instructed. "Do whatever you need to get them out safe." He looked at the rest of our group. We all nodded in return. The ground gave a familiar rumble as skeletons in various amounts of decay and armor burst through the ground and towards the branch of cavern that Calypso and the others were being held captive.

"I'd say we just found an out," I heard Hazel say. I smirked at her little remark and took my hammer out of my tool belt. Setting my hands and it on fire I rushed in behind Jason. He had already taken to fighting Natalie.

Frank was trying to untie Hazel while simultaneously keeping Lexi away. The skeletons he had brought up were already down and not reforming. Dixie was standing off to the side throwing curses and such at different people. There's my target. I swung my arm back and threw a ball of fire to her, unfortunately she saw it and dogged but it did disrupt her curses and such.

"Leo! Was that on purpose or did you just miss one of the others?" Dixie said. "Of course it was an accident what am I thinking? You wouldn't hurt me! You could never hurt me! I'm your girlfriend and you would never hurt me." She smiled like a maniac. I could hear Calypso growl behind me still tied up.

I smiled back at her, she is so delirious. "That's where you're wrong Dixie. You're not my girlfriend, and never will be. Calypso is my girlfriend, and she's the one I actually love. So yes that fire ball was on purpose and so are these ones." I then threw fireballs at her while she dodged them.

"She never really loved you Leo, she was always faking it. She only used you to get her off that stupid island of hers." She sneered at me as she ducked under the swing of my hammer. "Come back to me, we can forget this ever happened and put Calypso back on her little island."

She set me over the edge, I know I wasn't really supposed to kill her but I did, on accident. And let me tell you one thing, she is never going to Elysium. That's for sure.

I turned around to find some fights still going on; the girls and Will were free though. Calypso was sitting on the ground healing some of the biggest wounds but I knew it was taking a toll on her. I ran over to her as she finished with Annabeth, pulling some ambrosia and nectar I kept in my tool belt for emergencies.

Everyone looked quite terrible and I imagine I looked quite charred myself. I sat next Calypso who had lain down fully after she was done with Annabeth's gut wound. "Hey," she gave me a weak smile.

"Hey sunshine. You know you really messed me up after you left." I said honestly while I helped her sit up and face me, and handing her some ambrosia as well.

She smiled and took a small piece of it. "Yeah, you did the same to me. But at least you had someone to help you through it." She looked down at her hands resting in her lap.

"That's where you're wrong Sunshine. I don't remember much from when you were gone, only that you weren't there and I was so sad I couldn't seem to know what I was doing. Dixie's mist worked on me and I feel terrible for letting it get to me. I only came to my senses a little before you came back. And even then I felt alone." I took her face in my hands and lifted it up so I could look at her properly, "Calypso you are my one and only, that's it, you're it. I love you Calypso." I looked into her eyes, the ones I loved so much. I heard nothing around us, well no fighting at least. So I did the only obvious thing; I pulled her close to me and kissed her, even in all the grime we were in I kissed her like it would be the last time, even though I knew it definitely wouldn't be.

When we pulled away I looked around to find every one of our foes dead, I guess I wasn't the only one that got carried away. The couples were in various stages of hugging, and celebrating the small victory and return of our long lost lovers. I turned back to Calypso and looked at her again. She smiled her beautiful smile, "I love you too."
