Chapter 30

Piper Pov

I was fighting on the edges of the fray, no one was around me but I still had a few comrades near me, not close enough that I was fighting with them, but not far enough away that I couldn't reach them quickly if they needed me.

I quickly finished off the few empousi around me, turning I found a new foe. Natalie.

"Hello Phila," her mouth was twisted into a wicked grin, "or do you like your other name more? Queen was it? Or would you rather Piper? It's nice to finally meet you, at least somewhat." She knew my name, my real one, guess there's no hiding anymore. I flipped down my hood and rolled my eyes at her.

"What do you want? I've already had enough of you ruining my love life; I don't need you in my way now." I seethed.

"Oh nothing, just want to ruin more of your life. I have plans for you, and your friends." She slowly walked towards me; I kept my dagger at the ready in case she tried anything. "You know, I really haven't figured out why you left." She was circling me now. "Was it because of me?" She came closer and practically whispered in my ear. "Or because of Jason?" she dragged out his name, like she was tempting me to do something, anything that would cause me to hurt her. "Or was it something else? Maybe there was someone else?" she gasped dramatically, "You were cheating on him, weren't you? Oh how heartbroken he would be to know that he was being cheated on while he was cheating on you."

I snarled at her, "I never did anything like that, and I never will. The only person capable of doing anything close to that would be you."

She smiled a sickeningly sweet smile at me. "Now that's not true, you did do some bad things; in Jason's eyes that is. In his eyes everything you did was wrong," she sneered at me like the snake she was, "you hurt him in every way but the physical one." She came closer to me; I kept my eyes to the ground. Thinking over what happened the days before I left. I had done nothing different; I kept to my regular schedule.

I did nothing different.

I felt a dagger at my back, not mine, someone else's. My eyes widened, I had been played this whole time. Why didn't I see this coming sooner? "I wouldn't scream if I were you, you'll just get hurt even more."

My brain went on overdrive. Charmspeak her, I thought. So I did, "you don't want to do that, Natalie. You don't want to hurt me." The pressure lifted slightly. Not a lot but enough for me to spin around and pull my dagger in front of me.

She chuckled. "You won't get me next time Piper, now I know how strong your charmspeak is, and it won't fool me again." He smile deepened into a devious grin.

She lunged at me with her dagger and I jumped out of the way. I tried for a slice at her arm but missed when she threw it backwards. It went on like this for a while, her lunging while I dodged. A couple times I went for her blind spots but she quickly covered them up and parried my dagger away. I had a few grazes on her, and she had more than a few on me.

I had gotten distracted once by a nearby fight, it looked like a chaos solider and one of the other five bimbos. Natalie noticed and swung towards my gut, I realized this when I focused back onto her. I heard a scream in the background. My own soon came after.

Suddenly there was a pressure against my mouth; a cloth. I tried to tear away from the revolting fabric, without breathing anything in. I didn't work; I let a gulp of air come into my lungs, the burning smell of chemicals following it. I felt my body slowly fall to the ground, before I completely blacked out I heard voices, one in particular that I loved to hear.

"PIPER!"
