Chapter 27
Annabeth Pov
It had been about two weeks from when Nico told us of the little 'enchantment spell' he was under. The campers were excelling tremendously during their training and we started to have little rays of hope that we might actually win this war.
I had called the Romans just a week ago and told them of our predicament. They agreed readily to help assist when the time came. I had told them to come as soon as they possibly could. They only replied with nods and determined expressions.
I awoke to the sound of a conch horn and running feet one morning. The stairs were being pounded upon as was my door. "Annabeth get up! Were under attack!" Michael's hurried voice sliced through the cracks between my door and the frame. I bolted up and got dressed in my battle armor in record speed, not wanting this battle to destroy my first home.
I ripped my cloak off of its hook and flung open the door as I yanked it on me. "What's the status of the defenses?" I asked Luke when I caught up to him at the Big House.
He stood at the ping pong table with a battle map of the camp in front of him. "The barrier is starting to weaken. I have campers set here, and here." He pointed to two spots on the western border of the camp. "Archers are in the trees and older campers are fending off some monsters that got through. Younger ones are waiting as back up. If we want help we have to bring them in now. The campers won't hold them off for long. There's too many of them. We need to get help," he said glaring down at the map in front of him like it would help make matters better for us.
"Ok I'll Iris message Thalia, don't stay in here for long we need help out there." I turned and went to find a spray bottle, a bathroom, and a drachma.
Once I had acquired all three I Iris messaged Thalia. "Oh Iris, goddess of the rainbow, please show me Thalia Grace." When her face showed up I smiled.
Until she spoke. "Who are you and how did you know who I am?" She growled at me, I forgot I had my cloak on still.
"I'm an old friend, but that's not the point. I need you to come to camp half blood with the Hunters. We're currently under attack and need help, can you come?" I said still spraying the bottle, to help keep the connection going.
"How do I know I can trust you?" She replied in her normal disbelieving tone.
I flicked back my hood knowing it would get a better reaction than any words could. "How about now?"
Her face held nothing but shock, disbelief, and happiness. Which was soon taken over by anger. "If you're playing a prank on me..."
"I'm not and if you don't believe me then get here and I'll show you in person." I demanded, my water supply was dropping dangerously low.
"You had better explain this to me right this instant Annabeth Chase!" She howled to the dwindling mist.
"Not now, after the camp is saved, I'll see you then." The remaining water particles drifted on the air as my hand swept through it.
I sighed and placed my hands on the cool porcelain sink. I bent my head thinking about how messed up this whole thing is. Nothing was planned, we had very few older campers, most of whom were in Camp Jupiter. I could call them again, see when they would get here, but they won't be able to get here fast enough, even if they have left already. I lifted my head to look in the mirror.
I need to get out there.
