"You glow differently when you are actually happy."

Fast forward, it was already weekend. Time to go visit Ivy and made her feel better. Throughout the week, I had been thinking of ways to convince Ivy's parents to give permission for her to work at the city center.

"Maye she can stay with me at my share house! Uncle Ian and Auntie Flora may consider it. I hope I can convince her parents and help her." I mumbled to myself.

I packed my bags as I will be visiting my parents' first and then visit Ivy at the café nearby later. I packed a few shirts and my laptop. I wore a white t shirt, blue shorts and paired it up with black sneakers.

"Okay, ready to go." I said to myself.

I locked my bedroom, bid goodbye to my housemates, Sophie, Melanie and Kelly. "Bye guys. I am going to my parents' house for 2 weeks. See you!" The three of them nodded in unison, "Okay, Alannah! Take care. Have a safe journey. Send warm regards to your parents for us."

I walked out of the house and headed to the train station. I waited for the train for about 30 minutes. The journey to home was about 1 hour and a half. If Ivy got the permission to live here with me, she can take the train when she wants to visit her parents during the weekend. I hope everything will be at ease.

Throughout the journey to home, I listened to music and chatted with my boyfriend, Jeremy. We were supposed to have a date this weekend but postponed it due to the sudden change of plans. I was so grateful to have an understanding partner like him. Hopefully the four of us, Ivy, Joshua, Jeremy and me were able to hang out and go on double dates too. It will be fun.

I called my mom when I finally arrived the destination, "Hi mom! I finally arrived at Houston Station. Now, I am trying to find a cab and will arrive home for about 30 minutes. I'll see you soon. I miss you, mom!" I took a deep breath, smiled brightly as I haven't been here for almost 6 months already. "I wonder if there is new cafés or shops in my neighborhood." I mumbled to myself.

I reached home after 30 minutes journey. I knocked the door and heard my mom shouting, "It is already open, darling. I opened the door, running and hugged my mom tightly. "I miss you, mom! I'm sorry I was so busy with part time work and classes. I will be staying here for 2 weeks."

My mom hugged me back, "Aww. I miss you too, my dear daughter! 2 weeks? I will cook home cooked meal for you for 2 weeks then." She looked at me, "You looked beautiful and glowing. I am happy to see that you are adjusting well and happy too. But you looked quite thin. Are you eating enough, darling? Make sure to eat 3 meals every day, okay?

I nodded and giggled a little, "Yes mom. I do eat 3 meals every day. Don't worry, your daughter loves food a lot." My mom laughed, and then she smirked, "Yes, I do know my daughter well enough. But, is there something else you love? Or someone?"

I was taken aback for a second, "Huh? Someone? What do you mean? I-" My mom patted my back lightly, "I know you, Alannah. I'm your mother. So, who is the lucky guy? Tell me." I let out a chuckle, thought to myself, "I guess I really cannot hide anything from my mom, huh? She really knows me well and that's why I love her.

I looked at her, smiling and clearing my throat before beginning my sentence. "So here it goes. You know how I work part time at the café right, mom? I think I told you about Jeremy before. He worked there for part time as well like me.

"So, Jeremy is the lucky guy, huh?" My mom asked.

I nodded, "Yes, to be honest, I don't really know how and when did I have feelings for him? Because one day my heart suddenly have this fluttering feeling and somehow it works out." My mom patted my back, "Well, that's why love come when you least expect it. So, does that mean you liked him first? Which one confessed first?"

I told my mom the date I had with Jeremy at the cinema and how he confessed his feelings to me, asking me to be his girlfriend. I also told her about my answer to Jeremy's confession.

"Aww. This is so cute. It really reminds me on how I first met your dad. I cannot believe my daughter is growing up already. She has a boyfriend now!" My mom smiled.

"Mom! Stop teasing me! Anyway, when is dad and sis coming home? We should start cooking for dinner now." I said.
