I woke up the next day beside my mate but the happiness didn't last long when I saw how his neck is bare and pale again. It is indeed not a dream, it is not a dream that we both lost our marks. It is true.

I stepped out the bed as I went to wash up and step outside the house. I don't know now what to do but I found myself walking the path where we were yesterday. I shifted into my wolf form before running into the woods and walking into my pack where I am greeted by other wolves.

I immediately approached the alpha's house and good thing, I met Riki on my way.

"Jake hyung? What's up?"

"Hey ..  I need to talk to your father about something"

"Oh bad news, he just left. . what is it about? Maybe I can lend a hand. . come in"

I entered the door into the alpha's office as I sat on the couch. It really feels uncomfortable knowing that my neck is bare without my mark. It is very unsettling.

"I have a question. . can your mate change?"

Immediately Riki shook his head.

"No . . mates do not and never will change. Once the pairing is done, the moon goddess has already sealed the two wolves' fate that even in death of one mate, their other mate will be bound to them. Wait why are you asking?"

I revealed my neck making him stand from the chair and went to me.

"My mark is gone. So as Sunghoon. . our marks disappeared"

It hurts to be speaking about it. I want to cry but I won't stop without a clear answer. Whatever answer it is, I know Sunghoon is my mate. I only want him and I wouldn't care about whatever the moon goddess is playing. Sunghoon is my mate and him alone.

"How did that happen? I saw the marks. . . wait . . when did it disappear?"

"Yesterday, after I'm officially a member of this pack . . when we got home, our links are gone so as our marks. . ."

"Yesterday. . ."

He began to pace around the room and I am beginning to feel so anxious that this might really be a change of my mate.

"I got it!"

I almost jump from my seat when Riki shouted and immediately dashed out the room.

"Jake hyung over here!!"

I stood and followed him to where I suppose is his room and he brought out an ancient looking book, blowing the dusts off.

"Sit down anywhere. . let's see"

He began to open the book and I can't even make out any word from each page. I guess these are ancient wolf writings that they teach young wolves but I didnt have the opportunity to learn.

"I think I can explain that. . You see, my grandfather told me this and he said this is just a myth . . but this is the only thing I can associate with you . . there can be cases when a wolf's change of pack can mess with their mate and their bond. The thing is, if a pack claimed a wolf, there is a chance that the pack's claim is more dominant in one wolf that their mate's claim. This happened when the marking is weak. . how were you marked anyway?"

"Uhm . . I was in the verge of death because I reached my maximum year to live without a mate. . . but Sunghoon marked me to make me stay alive. I'm not in heat that time so they injected me with the drug that can put any wolf in heat. . I was marked when I am unconscious. ."
