10 - I Don't Want to Hear Your Plan

Y/n was in town buying food with King and Hunter approached her. The locals don't know his face as the Golden Guard so he thought he was safe.

He tapped her shoulder and waved when she turned around. "Hey, I have something to share." He says but she just turned and walked away after paying the shop owner.

Hunter was shocked and even glanced at the owner for a second before walking after her. "Y/n, hey, what was that?" He says as she visits shops over and over again, paying money without buying anything. "Can you listen to me for a second!" He exclaims as he got angry.

She scoffed and King hopped off her shoulder. "I am usually reasonable." King snickers. "At the moment I feel don't have a good reason to even stand here with you."

Hunter raised an eyebrow as his voice panicked. "What are you talking about."

She squints her eyes. "I don't wanna talk to you." She says and continues walking.

He blinked repeatedly in disbelief and follows after her. "Wait, can you tell me what's going on?" He begged, wanting desperately to know what's going on with her, honestly forgetting about what he did yesterday.

"I don't think you deserve to know. Stop following me, I don't want to be seen with you, plod." He stopped in his tracks after hearing this.

"She knows some of the weirdest sounding words." He chuckled and ran after again.

He followed her around silently after trying to talk for too long. They went nearly everywhere so she could pay these random shop owners. Even in Latissa. King asked about it and she explained. "I'm paying everyone back for the things they've given me over the month." She says. "People trust me to pay them back so I make sure to keep their trust locked in place."

Hunter smiled as he heard this, thinking of how nice it sounded and how good of a person she really is. Just being a wild witch isn't enough to make someone a full on criminal, they are just trying to keep their freedom. Y/n has connections and good relationships with people. She protects everyone in her own way and that's the main reason she's never been turned in to Belos. People trust and like her and they would hate to see her gone. No matter how high the bounty got, nobody ever considered turning her in. Nobody kept their kids away from her either because she was a good influence and all the parents trusted her more than their own family at times. "Wow."

Y/n looked back to Hunter in confusion. "What?"

"Just, the way you've been living out here. It just hit me why you're so happy."

She rolled her eyes. "Didn't I say not to talk to me?"

Hunter then tilted his head down, with a feeling of guilt. "Y/n, would you be willing to share your anger?"

"No, you know what you did." She said passively and kept walking.

He had to stop and think for a moment about what he could have done that made her angry. And as Y/n and King had disappeared around a corner he had finally come to a conclusion but also lost sight of her before he can confront her about it. "Ah!" He looked around from where he stood then ran in the direction he assumed the two went and found her again quickly, paying a merchant.

She smiled and gave him a pile of coins then started walking off again but Hunter stood in front of her. "I know why your mad, and I know what I did looks bad but hear me out; it's not."

She pushed him aside and walked past him. "Can't, too busy."

"No, you listen!" He followed right behind her. "The news I want to tell you, it's a plan I have and it involved a lot of brainstorming, hence the reason I went to your house yesterday."

"Listen, if you want to continue helping Belos just say so. I don't need you to protect me and quite frankly I think I'm much stronger than I was before. Even then you couldn't catch me."

Hunter blinked in disbelief. "The plan I had was to benefit you..." He claims.

She rolled her eyes. "Yeah? The human realm? Belos is the only one here who actually wants and needs it." She says with her hands on her hips. "From now on stay out of my life-"

He grabbed her upper arms to keep her in front of him and tried to briefly explain himself. "My plan is to find a way to keep you out of Belos' hands, isn't that what you want?"

She pushed him aside by his face. "What I want if Freedom for me and everyone else like me." She explains with a stern expression. "And to not be associated with you people." She holds her Palisman up and held King. "I'm done here." She then disappears from the very place she stood, sending herself back to the Owl House by teleportation so she didn't have Goldy following her back.

Hunter growled in frustration and began making his way to the Owl House himself. He still had more to say to her.

Y/n kicked her door open and King stood behind her with concern written all over his face. "Hey, I get that you're mad at him but uh, do you really have to take it out on Hooty?" Be says and she sad down against the wall and rummaged through her bag and took out the illegible note. King went to sit next to her to attempt to bring her some sense of calm. He looked down at the worn out paper in her hand and asked her curiously. "What is that?"

She sighed. "It's trash." She says and puts it back in her bag, sighing as she sinks back into the wall. "King, do you ever feel stupid?" He didn't answer but just stared at her, worried. "I told myself for years that I would never trust anyone working for the emperor, no matter the circumstance, and yet I let my guard down to that back-stabbing, high-class who things he can do whatever he wants." She buried her face in her knees. "I'm not mad at him, I'm mad at myself because I knew he was not a good guy but I let myself have hope for him anyway."

King climbed into her lap. He felt bad for her when he saw how much this affected her, even though he knew that she was being stupid. Deep down she knew but she wouldn't admit it to even herself.

"I don't need him..."

Hunter approached the house and went to the door for Hooty to headbutt him unexpectedly. He fell to the ground in a painful shout and rubbed his forehead. "Stupid owl worm!"

"Y/n doesn't want you around right now! Or ever again!" He yelled and pushed him back into the parameter of the forest. "Stay! Away! Hoot!"

Hunter rubbed his head as he lied on the ground, feeling overwhelming guilt and regret wash over him. "What do I do?" Lil' Rascal tweeted and Hunter's face flashed with shock.
