I watch in a love hazed silence as I listen to him give my parents a piece of his mind. Putting the lies that passed their lips to bed with a string of words he'd formed within his brain. I knew bringing him here was going to be a difficult and painful experience but it was something we both needed.
My head spins like water running down a drain as I try to process every word that passes his lips. The venom and violence he's emitting from his eyes would be enough to ignite a bush fire.
As the cloud around my brain subsides and my focus sharpens I catch on to his final words to the telling too he's been giving my useless parents -
'The world would be better without you in it, I know mine and my wife will be. So don't try to spin this into a game where you will look innocent because that shit won't fly with me.'
Confession time. I know it's wrong of me to be thinking like this but somehow having the man that I love to fight to protect my honour and dignity to the people who tarnished it for most of my life has me sitting in a pool of my own need and desire.
Hell who knew anger could be so darn sexy when it's in the light justice.
You'd think to have my husband put them into the box they deserve would make them rethink their game plan but it doesn't if anything fuel their need to win this battle.
'We always knew you'd come crawling back to us Sky. What is it do you need money? Or have the Taylor's finally kicked your pathetic behind out?'
The slur in my mother's voice as she raises it to consume the attention of the room has the corner of my eyes scrunching up. As my tongue flicks to the roof of my mouth.
I know that she wants to hurt me, to put me back into the box she once held the lock and key to but I'm not that little girl anymore. I cannot be bullied into believing my happiness and my life isn't worth respect or happiness.
The smirk that has been reserved for my husband consumes my lips as I hold my head high, eyes locked intensely with hers. Staring her down until a deep purple blush stains her neck and face.
It's about time she felt some embarrassment. The day of reckoning has been a long time coming mother dearest, now the angel and her devil are here to watch you fall.
'Have you not been keeping tabs on your daughter?' Bryan asks the earlier anger from his voice relinquished. To be replaced with his gruff chuckle.
For my parents being a millionaire is everything. It holds more worth than anything else in this world. I'm confident that if they had to pick between food and money then the latter would be their decision. To them, money holds the key to every kingdom like everything has a price - well except me. They never could use the money to control or force me to submit to their rules.
Seems god had a different plan for this angel.. not that they ever saw me as one. To them, I was a burden, a child of the devil - worthless, unlovable and someone who they had to provide for. Meaningless money for my mother to spend on herself.
