NICOLETTA NEEDED TO TAP INTO THE GODDESS ELOQUENCE RUNNING IN HER VEINS. She felt like a mess, self-hatred and figurative whispers on her tongue kissed her with soft lips, on the stomach, her cheek, her forehead... absolutely churning acid deep inside her with each assault of false love.

It was actually disgusting. Her kinship never seemed to be so out of mind, always the perfect, elegant, fresh-faced example that comes to mind when you think of the words: heavenly, divine, matchless. They were a utopia to society. Hell, Celeste who had been on the same exact quest as Nicoletta looked unmatched.

She guessed the turmoil that was brewing on the inside started to show on the outside, and Nicoletta didn't mind until she was sitting on a trolley next to her short-term crush that could only result in a tragic death.

Despite how many times she was warned, Percy Jackson still eroded her wariness with his boyish grin.

She hoped that nobody could tell how nervous she was to the naked eye, her palms were sweating. Each time Percy glanced over to her she tensed up, hands faced down, pressed into her thighs whenever his nautical eyes examined the side of her pale face with a small smile on his.

Her breath was drawn, stuck in her windpipes. She knew Nico was glaring at them from the back of the trolley/train thing. She could feel his dark gaze on the area between each one of her shoulder blades. The exact area Percy's hand was resting on the head of the chair she was sitting in.

She almost fainted when it happened; his arm lifted, stretching to the breadth of the bench and sitting behind her. Sometimes his hands slipped, fingers just barely grazing her shoulders and dipping into her limp hair, curls barely alive.

She had never been more embarrassed in her entire life. Her face was on fire she had to look down at her dirty converse. Nicoletta heard a snort, looking up she saw Celeste biting her lip to hold her laughter and Annabeth teasing her with a smirk and her eyebrows raised. Nicoletta turned to look out at the hill in the distance, slowly trying to work towards her lost sanity, something that vanished way before she met Annabeth before she started at that private school before any of this even happened.

"We have a huge operation!" Geryon boasted. His loud voice mixed in with the vehicle lurching forward startled Nicoletta, her shut eyes fluttering open with surprise. "Horses and cattle mostly, but all sorts of exotic varieties, too."

As they finally went over the hill Nicoletta's eyes widened at the number of bohemian animals trapped behind a fence-in pasture. Some had curling yellow claws, feathery tails, and red wings, others had large fangs and beady eyes. One of the red-winged animals reared up on its hind legs, galloping away.
