LOOK, I've never sought attention, buried myself in despair because I didn't have it, or passionately cried out in the shower. I've never been the center of attention, and I was fine with that, but this, this was different.
The Hermes table was quiet, quiet despite the Stoll brothers trying to convince Nico that poker was much better than Mythomagic, it didn't seem to be working. I felt pity towards the boy, seemingly losing his sister to the Hunters of Artemis, who all seemed jovial at the Godesses table, and having no other choice than to suffer in silence at the table associated with the God of Thieves.
I poked at the barbecue in front of me, blatantly in a bad mood. Thoughts of the upcoming capture the flag game kept resurfacing, albeit, it was my first one but a puny little child's game seemed to cower at the idea of Annabeth still being out there.
Fidgetting with the lipstick tube in my hand, my thumb grazed over the ancient writing. The relic that usually calmed my nerves wasn't helping, they only seemed to increase with the wild beating of my heart. Totally random, by the way. Vows ringing in my head to help Annabeth ( just like she had helped me ) were dimming as a feeling of pins and needles started at my scalp, traveling south down my body. I stood up quietly to leave, going to self-diagnose myself in the infirmary only to be stopped.
Being enveloped in a fog of pink smoke was not fun, neither was having everyone look upon you with wide eyes. The ladies of Artemis' hunt's smiles all turned to scowls, watching the transformation with upturned noses, the Hermes table, of which she sat at, all hollered ( most likely excited to get rid of her ), the Aphrodite table had mixed reactions, some watching with squeals echoing from their mouths, excited to have another cabin member, others glaring in envy, eyes glazed over as they watched the blessing commence. Chiron looked indifferent. Lips straight as a line and hands pressed together, puzzle pieces snapping together in his mind. And Percy, poor Percy who sat all alone at the Poseidon table, couldn't've looked more confused. He admitted it, Nicoletta continued to make cameos in his mind. He was just curious, that's all.
I coughed, pink smoke invaded my lungs, and my nose felt scorched from the fresh and strange smell of sea salt. The tight ponytail that hung from the crown of my head was gone, curls pouring down my back in tenfolds. The oversized jacket I was previously wearing disappeared, replaced by a light pink cardigan tucked into a plaid mini pencil skirt. Aphrodite, being thoughtful of my bare legs in the middle of winter ( thanks mom ) covered them in knee-high socks. She decided to leave my Doc Martens alone, something I was thankful for.
