Chapter 22 - Warmth

Soft purr sounded quite loud in the serenity of the night, the bluish light from the window falling over the two frames on the bed, the blonde omega and his mother.

Snuggling closer to his mother's scent gland, Taehyung nosed the area scenting his mother while the woman continued to stroke his hair, her fingers which were ever so lightly pressing over his scalp made him let out a contented purr again.

"So tell me bear, how is life with your mate?"

"It's just so free, hyung takes me out, explains the things I don't know about without getting fed up." Taehyung giggled and started to narrate all his adventures— that's what he called them.

He talked about every embarrassing moment and started to make his mother understand things about the world as if his mother didn't know about them already. His eyes shined when he said that Jungkook had given him a piggyback ride around the park near the JSC building as he ate the big fluffy cotton candy.

Jihyun chuckled, patting Taehyung's head. "I haven't heard you being this happy in so long."

"My mate makes me happy," Taehyung smiled, eyes casted down, hand reaching out to bring the collar of Jungkook's shirt he was wearing close to his nose so he could inhale the scent deeply. "I'm just so glad that Koo hyung is my mate."

"You should be, Jungkook has been waiting for you for years now. I have seen that boy lose his smile after he was told to stay away from you." Jihyun said. "He was put through harsh training and was constantly told to make himself worthy for you, honestly he was already worthy of being your mate but I didn't have a say in it."

"Why? If you knew you should have protected my alpha from the harsh things." He pouted, looking up at his mother with his sapphire eyes glinting in the low lighting.

"I would but your Joonie hyung was protective over you. He had openly declared that until he was sure of Jungkook he wouldn't let you be around him." She replied, her eyes rolling briefly as she remembered how rigid Namjoon was.

"Could you tell me what happened around that time?" He whispered, teeth chewing the collar of the shirt.

"Of course my winter bear." She smiled, lips leaving a peck over her son's forehead before she sighed dolefully thinking about all the times Jungkook was put through, "It started with Areum and Myung lecturing Jungkook over how he wasn't being not alpha enough and he should have fun partying and you know, drowning in pleasure."

"But my alpha didn't." Taehyung interrupted, his chin tilting and a pressed smile on his lips, eyes shining in pride.

Jihyun let out a laugh over how adorable her son is. "Of course he didn't, he was left confused and the satisfaction that Areum had over her face when she knew that Jungkook didn't do any of those— she was elated."

A giggle left her lips again as she thought about how worried Areum was when she was told to lecture Jungkook over something she was proud that her son wasn't into and after that the lady didn't take any risks at all and strictly told Namjoon to keep her out of all this mess.

"If she didn't want hyungie to do those things, why did she lecture?"

"Namjoon told her to, he said if Jungkook actually ends up doing any of these he'd never let Jungkook even touch you. It was a test of his loyalty." Jihyun explained, sighing as she nuzzled her nose into Taehyung's hair, breathing in the scent of her son, smiling when she had to blink her tears, holding tight over the other who has been her will to live and push through life all these years.

Her sweet little babbling baby has now grown up into a teenager having a mate to care for himself and take care of.

It was as precious as overwhelming it was.
