It's been a long night, a long tiring night of fighting-fighting to save the wizarding race as a whole. I was tired, maybe I should just close my eyes and let death take me, I mean, I was already captured by Voldemort and now we were walking through the forest to reach the castle. Harry Potter was dead, being carried by Hagrid a few feet ahead of me at this very moment.
I had been captured by one of the death eaters, I don't know why I was so lucky to be held hostage, but at least I wasn't dead. Yet. I must be a person they're going to use as an example for the others along with Harry. I've come to terms with death, I'm actually looking forward to dying...sad huh? But that's what life has been for the past two years, sad and depressing, it was only a matter of time until I died.
I had actually contemplated offing myself, but then when I think of who would miss me I tear up. I only have two people left in my life, everyone else was taken away from me. That's why I was fighting, to get back at those who took away my life.
Now why was I so lucky to be..."saved"? I have no answer for you, I come from a Pureblood family who is very divided on how we see magic. My father believed it wasn't needed for everything and proved that he could provide for his family without it. Maybe I was "saved" because of my choices, but it didn't matter to me-death was inevitable around here.
The troop stopped, I looked ahead to see all former students of Hogwarts gathered, staring speechless as we advanced across the grounds. Light spilled out onto the grounds from the castle doors and shattered windows, it was an errie sight to say the least. I'd never pictured the place I called home during my childhood to shatter in a matter of minutes.
Looking around, I saw the shocked expressions of close friends, I was meant to die earlier in a corridor beside Neville. But instead, I was taken, I assume everyone thought I was dead the second I disappeared. I saw George Weasley standing beside his brother Percy, both boys looking perplexed as I caught their eye.
"NO!" I looked over at McGonagall who had screamed, then everyone began to cry as they realized who Hagrid was carrying as he stepped forward.
"SILENCE!" Voldemort called with a bang as he set off sparks into the sky. "You see? Harry Potter is dead, do you understand now deluded ones? He was nothing, but a mere boy who relied on others to sacrifice himself for him!" He turned and motioned for me, I was shoved violently before Bellatrix moved forward, holding on to my hair roughly and shoving me to the ground.
"He beat you!" Ron yelled from beside me.
"He was killed while trying to sneak out of the castle grounds," Voldemort continued. "Now, I give you one last chance to make the right decision...who will join us? I swear, I'll show mercy on you and your family."
There was shuffling and then Draco was about a few feet away from me, "Draco! Draco come here!" Lucius whispered.
Draco didn't move, he was gazing at me-we had a history after all, we've been friends for years. But he took one step closer before pausing again, Lucius was holding out a hand for his only son a few feet away from me. Draco's steel grey eyes never left mine, not for a second, he looked scared as if he weren't sure what he should do. "Hesitant I see..." Voldemort muttered, "I will show you what happens when you do not step forward with her then." He pointed a skeleton white finger in my direction, "come here," I shook my head slightly but Bellatrix shoved me, on my knees, closer to him.
"NO!" I couldn't see who it was, but it was a male's voice, that much I knew. But for whom had shouted, I will not know. Draco crossed sides, standing behind his father, hanging his head in shame.
There was a cruel laugh before a rather large thump and a hiss, I knew what was going to happen next. I shut my eyes tight as I felt snake skin touch my own skin, the giant snake was coiling around my body, slowly squeezing the air out of my lungs. I started screaming, I didn't mean to, no what I meant was to suffer in silence, to let everyone know that the girl they had known for the past few years wasn't a coward-that she was as strong as she tried to present herself. But now they'll all know that I'm not strong, I'm just a scared little girl, slowly dying in front of their eyes and there was nothing they could do.
Death was near, I could feel it, it's a shame that I never got to experience many things; like travelling through Europe or to finally say those three words that could change fate to someone special...
But maybe you will understand more if I start at the beginning, not the very beginning, just to where this all started. The important stuff at least. That way when you reach the point where you walked into my story, maybe you'll know what kind of person I once was.
The name is Kayley, But everyone usually calls me Kay.
