Change of Heart (A Weasley Fan Fiction)

The Alternate Ending

This is the ending I've had in my mind since this story came to me. 

Welcome to the Alternate ending, be prepared to cry. 

   It starts right after Kayley is bitten. 

*George's POV* 

George ran from his spot beside his father, much to the protests of people around him, as Death Eaters scattered. He had to get to Kayley, he had to save her. He couldn't live without Fred or her, and he already had to accept that he had lost one of them--he couldn't lose both. Neville stood panting over Kayley's form with the sword of Gryffindor limply held in his grip as he stared at the decapitated snake in shock. George pushed the snake aside and made Neville move as he knelt down beside Kayley. She was bleeding out, convulsing a bit as her blood pooled from the bite marks and dripped like rivers down to the ground. George began stroking her face, which made her eyes flutter open very slightly. 

"Neville--" But Neville was already nodding and running away to get help as George assessed Kayley. 

She had three major wounds that were spewing blood as she convulsed on the ground. "Hang in there, Kay. We're getting you help," George whispered as he gingerly took her hands in his. 

"There isn't time," Kayley breathed out, blood forming more quickly at the wound above her collarbone. "I'm sorry..." 

"Come on, Kay, we're going to get you fixed up and then we're going on that date," George soothed, brushing her hair from her face as they sat there. "I need you," George pleaded. 

He couldn't lose anyone else in his life, if he did.....he didn't know what he would do. 

Kayley began coughing harshly, blood trickling down the corners of her mouth, George gently wiped them away, "you can't leave me, Kayley."

"Thank you...for everything, you and Fred, if it wasn't for the two of you....I'd still be that stubborn girl who chose to not listen to her heart....its because of you that I am..truly happy. If it weren't for you..." she started choking, the blood coming from her mouth more frequently, "I owe you so much for waiting, for understanding...for everything you've ever done for me...I'm sorry for being a selfish idiot and taking forever...forgive me," her breathing came in a wheeze as George went to wipe away the blood.

"You are worth every second I've ever waited," George whispered, leaning forward and kissing her forehead. 

"I'm sorry for taking so long. I was scared of getting hurt....I just wanted to focus on my life...but I'm happy," Kayley looked up at George, blood lining her smile as it trailed down her face.  "I'm happy I finally got to kiss you and call you my boyfriend. Even if it was only for four months. I still got to know the feeling of being loved by you."

I was crying, I could feel the tears springing forward, "Kayley, stop talking like that." 

"I'm happy because of you and Fred...always being in my life....thank you..." her breathing was slowing down, "you two have meant the world to me...and...I know that it took me so long for us to happen...but...it was worth the wait." Her breathing was shallow as time passed, her blood still spilling out of her wounds. Even applying pressure on them wouldn't be enough to help. It was only cause her more pain. "The best part of my life was the past four months. You are a fantastic boyfriend and I'm sorry I made you wait...." she paused for the longest time as tears fell from George's eyes. 

"Kayley, stop," George pleaded. "This is all going to be fine." 

"I love you, George," Kayley's breathing was so slow that it appeared as if her chest had stopped rising.
