I was pacing my room, tossing around a small ball I'd found in the garage earlier when I went to clean. As the ball bounced I started humming to myself, I had to keep my mind clear, couldn't think, thinking led to wanting to cry and that only led to actually crying which led to my craving for medication. I should have never started taking those blasted things!
I kicked the bed slightly, I brought it on myself of course. I sighed as I sat down on the edge of my bed, chewing on my nails to distract myself.
"Kayley! Can you come downstairs for a bit?" Fred's voice sounded through the wooden door.
I tossed the ball to the ground and opened the door, Fred was smiling before we walked downstairs, standing beside the very small tree Fred and I had placed in the living room for Christmas.
"What's going on?" I looked around the room, I could smell Mrs. Weasley's cooking but that was about it.
Fred turned around, folding his arms and smirking when I felt arms snake around my waist and I was spun in place. I let out a squeak of surprise, when I was put down I was I was staring into the shocking blue eyes of none other than George Weasley.
My breath caught in my throat and I was suddenly nervous being so close to him, I heard Fred cough behind me and leave the room.
"Welcome back," I smiled.
"Come on, Kay. You can do a lot better than that," George snorted, his lips turning into a smirk.
I looked down, "that...potion I took....I remember it from somewhere."
"Read about it in a book you lent me for those love potions in the joke shop," George was smiling. "What did you think?"
I looked up at him, my fingers fiddling with each other as I gazed at him, "those moments...were those all true?"
"Every little bit," George confirmed.
I didn't know what to say or do, my heart picked up its pace as we looked at each other. "I'm so sorry for everything...I should have never acted like that....Please forgive me."
"When you came to see me at the shop, you looked like you wanted to tell me something important," George stepped a little closer to me.
"Oh...I don't know what you mean," I shook my head, my face heating up.
"Come on, Kay," George pleaded, he gave a reassuring smile.
"It doesn't matter," I shook my head.
"It does matter, Kayley."
"No it really doesn't," I denied.
"Why can't you just tell me?" George questioned.
"Because...I can't say it!" I shook my head.
"Why is that?" George tilted his head to the side. "Why can't you tell me what you wanted to tell me then?" He stepped even closer, my face was burning hot as I took a deep breath.
"Because I fancy you, George! And you already hurt me once and I can't--" I pressed my hands to my mouth, George's smirk was so smug it could've given Draco's a run for its money.
"Sorry, I didn't catch that," George leaned forward, "what was that?"
"You heard me," I mumbled completely embarrassed by my outburst.
George cupped my face in his hands, I felt the calluses from years of playing beater mixed with the smoothness of his hands, graze my chin very slightly, "I don't think I did, actually," he whispered.
"I said...I fancy you, George," I spoke just as quietly.
George pressed his lips to mine, his hands finding my back, when he pulled away he was grinning. "Merry Christmas, Kayley."
"Well, what happened?" Fred interrogated me when I returned to my room after talking with George.
"Not the way I had wanted to talk to him...but..he knows," I shrugged.
"Running down the alley like a loon and barging into my shop....is that how you wanted to tell to him?" Fred raised an eyebrow.
"Hey, that was the romantic tact," I pointed a finger at him.
Fred shook his head and sighed as I rummaged around for something, "what're you looking for?"
"My shoes," I murmured, pulling them from underneath the bed and pulling them on my feet. "Anything else you'd like to say?" I raised an eyebrow at him as I stood up.
"I'm happy for you, Kayley," Fred smiled, "but if he hurts you at all, you'll let me know won't you?"
I hugged Fred tightly, knowing this possibly hurts him more than he would ever let on. "Don't let the git hurt you again," Fred smiled when I pulled away.
I smiled, kissing his cheek slightly before running back downstairs to find George looking at the tree. He smiled when I got closer.
"You know I'm sorry, don't you?" George questioned.
I nodded, "I got the message," I smiled slightly watching the corners of George's mouth turn up into a smile.
"To be honest, I wasn't too sure that potion was going to work. I was expecting you to hate me the second I came back, but then Fred told me how you'd been while I was gone..." George trailed off, looking at me over his shoulder.
I wrapped my arms around his waist, pressing my cheek into his back, "I'm sorry."
George turned around in my arms and frowned, "I'm the one who should be saying that, not you."
"Let's start from scratch then," I nodded.
George smirked, "well, I'm George Weasley, then. World class charmer and master of mischief, its a pleasure to meet you, beautiful."
I rolled my eyes, blushing when his hands found my waist and his lips found mine. "I'm really happy for this."
"For what?" I asked.
"For you actually listening to your heart for once instead of that thick head of yours," George grinned.
"I can as easily walk away from you," I said flatly. George's grip tightened around me, pressing us closer together.
"I'd like to see you try, Miss Sorrin."
