tw: suicide
Yeosang did end up marrying Taehyun.
Jongho ended up getting back together with Eunbi.
They were never happy. The two, they'd never felt real happiness. Both their lives were bitter, maybe they had good people in their lives to guide them. Even so, those people weren't a solution. When it came into reality, it seemed they both took their angers out of each other.
Six years later, Jongho finished his military service. Two months after Yeosang left he enlisted. Jongho was long gone from the apartment, inheriting his father's business. He and Eunbi were engaged, soon to be wed. They sorted their shit out and were friends, not in love though, no not in the slightest. Eunbi was smart and helped Jongho with the company, he realized that he should've never demonized her. He was glad to have her by his side.
Yeosang and Taehyun were absolutely awful together. Yeosang would take all his anger, every ounce of hatred he had out on Taehyun. Taehyun was far too drunk to give a damn. So, Yeosang sent him to a rehabilitation facility. He was working as an accountant. He was miserable. His parents were still psychotic control freaks so he knew to keep his distance.
San and Yunho got divorced about two years into their marriage.
Yunho moved to the country side and married a sweet woman, who became a house wife. He had a son, three, his pride and joy.
San committed suicide.
The funeral was held a week after.
His suicide note contained a will, stating that everything he owned would be given to Yunho. He shot himself in the back of his Honda Civic. It was tragic. Yeosang, everyone, heard about it. Everyone was going to attend the funeral. His note read,
"Hi! I'm Choi San and these are my last, worthless words on paper! Life wasn't worth it without someone by my side. Yunho really made me fucking happy. If that bastard is reading this, I have to know, why'd you leave me? Because I wasn't pretty enough? Because I couldn't bare children? Yunho I'd get all the plastic surgery, I'd adopt all the children you could ever want. I lived for you. I don't love you anymore. I can't. I'm sorry and I hope my death doesn't affect you. I hope my family is doing well, especially Jongho. I don't know how he held off so long. I obviously couldn't. Anyway, thanks for reading whoever did. Asta la vista <3!"
Yunho was sobbing into his hand while holding the note in the other at the lawyers office. His wife was embracing him tightly. Jongho was sitting across from them with an unreadable expression. "He.." Jongho started to say, but simply couldn't finish. Jongho's father was standing at the entrance of the office with a stone cold expression. His wife wiping her tears with a handkerchief. "We'll have the funeral on Monday." Siwoon said, his voice nearly breaking at funeral.
Yunho and Jongho went drinking. "I'll miss him. I know I will. We used to write each other, you know. For the first few years. I stopped writing after Heejin got pregnant. I fucking regret it so much. I threw some of his letters out..thinking..they didn't matter much. I'm so stupid." Yunho sobbed, sipping his bottle of beer. "Did you still love him?" Jongho asked. Yunho looked up at him, eyes red and cheeks tear stained. "I..fell out of love. I did. Okay?! This isn't my fault! I loved him! But San was a fucking addict! Your father fucked him in the head, yeah, sure, he was getting better. But he wasn't doing so good when I saw him snorting cocaine on the edge of our bathroom sink! I could not love someone who wasn't willing to get better, okay?!"
"Nobody, and I mean this Yunho, nobody is blaming you. Everyone knew San was unstable, and he was just using you to level out his issues. Sure he loved you, but he just used you as a support beam. Right?" "No! That's not how it went! We were in love. I adored him. And now I'll spend the rest of my life missing him." "You hadn't talked in what, four years?" "Three years, 7 months, two weeks and a day. That's when I stopped writing him all together." "Yunho, he was my brother. I cared for him. But we can't dwell on him forever, don't mourn too much. At least you have a wonderful wife who loves you, and a child who thinks your the greatest man in the whole world." Yunho sighed and ran his hands through his dark hair. "Thank you Jongho. For talking. I couldn't say this to anyone else. How's, how's Yeosang?" "Isn't he your best friend?" "We had our own lives to attend to. I cut him off awhile ago." "Well I haven't spoken with him in, Jesus, I don't even remember how long. It's been, what? Five years, maybe six? I don't know, I hope he's doing well for himself, wherever he ended up." "I invited him to the funeral." Yunho blurted out. "Is he going?" "Yes." "How is he?" "Taehyun, you remember that asshole, right?" Jongho nodded. "They got married but he's in rehab, Taehyun. Yeosang started crying when he heard the news." "He's coming and..you're sure of it?" "Yeah, no point in lying."
The day of the funeral came by fast. Jongho spent the day wondering if he should've even showed up. Nevertheless, he dressed in a suit, a black prada suit that complimented Eunbi's modest dress. She and Jongho talked all night and he fell asleep in her arms. "Ready?" Eunbi asked. Jongho nodded. They walked into their garage and Jongho took a glance at his old motorcycle, it was sitting there, collecting dust. He got into his car and drove out. Going on his way. They walked into the building where the funeral was held, at least 60 people had been there. There was a framed image of San, he was in highschool, smiling widely. His father was crying. That made Jongho stop in his tracks. Eunbi gripped his hand. "It's okay. Say your goodbyes. I'm sure he's in a better place." Eunbi said. Jongho nodded.
"Dad." "Jongho,". Siwoon started wiping his tears away. "I really thought San would outlive the both of us. He was the strongest..I should know." "Dad. Don't. His past is not what makes him San. I hadn't talked with him in forever, I couldn't say goodbye. Did you speak with him at all?" "No. I sent him a monthly allowance. But no contact." "But why?" "I don't know. After he got married I thought he'd be fine. Wasn't I fucking wrong." Siwoon laughed in sorrow. "I'll go greet the guests." Jongho said.
He tried to spot Yeosang. He didn't know why. Maybe Yeosang forgot about him. He didn't find Yeosang, but he saw Yunho. "Have you seen Yeosang?" "He's out on the balcony. He's..not okay Jongho. He's not okay." "Thanks."
The only thing separating them was the sliding glass door. He took a second to admire Yeosang. He was leaning against the balcony, back facing Jongho, he had short black hair. He was wearing a black shirt and jeans with boots. Jongho assumed he was smoking a cigarette, since there was smoke forming around his head. He opened the door. "Yunho I really can't do anymore talk-" Yeosang's jaw hung open, he dropped the cigarette to the ground.
"Hello Yeosang."
His lips were chapped. He was wearing circular glasses, his eyes shimmering. "It can't fucking be..". Yeosang whispered. "Hm. How have you been Yeosang? How's your husband." A scowled was placed on Yeosang's face. He smashed the cigarette with the tip of his boot. "My 'husband's' a drunk. Yunho told you?" "Yes. I was shocked when I heard you were coming." "Why? I was very fond of San. And he was my best friends ex husband. How have..you been Jongho?" "Good. I got engaged." Jongho said, showing off the silver ring on his finger. Something changed in Yeosang's eyes. "To who?" "You'd kill me if I said." "I've changed Jongho. I'm not the crazy, angry, saying 'fuck you' when I don't want to express my emotions in the right way type of guy. I've been, humbled, is what you can call it." "Eunbi is my fiancé." Yeosang's stiffened up. "May your marriage be prosperous and your days long." Yeosang grumbled. "I don't know what you expected Yeosang. That, that I would fall back into love with you the second I saw you again?" "I just....I never stopped loving you. My feeling aren't same as they were six years ago. But there's still something down there." Jongho looked at the ground. "Do you love her?" "No. But she knows that. We're not in love. We're friends. We're happy. And we agreed that we can have open relationships. But we haven't found anyone." "I'm glad you're happy." "I wish you would be too. Yeosang." Yeosang chuckled bitterly.
"Don't worry. I'll find you in hell one day. Then we can be together."
a/n: Before I say my final words, I have to say thank you to all my amazing readers who took their time to read this fanfiction! I forgot when I first wrote this book, I also forgot when I 'ended' it. Anyways, I ended it on this particularly dark note because I personally don't believe in happy endings and I like to express that in my writing. I pondered on the thought of having Jongho and Yeosang grow old together but that wasn't my ideal ending. Instead they'll rot their own separate ways. I know there was way too much neglect on Hongjoong and Seonghwa's characters, but I was so wrapped up in everyone else's development that I kinda swept them to the side. Wooyoung and Mingi weren't mentioned in this chapter for reasons including that I was too lazy to add them. But they're living happily for those wondering! Possibly the only healthy couple we've seen thus far, haha. Thanks again for reading and I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did writing it :)
