"I'm not doing the dishes!" chorused 6 voices, turning to glare at each other after.
A crash came from up the stairs, startling you to almost dropping the plates you were unpacking.
"Is everything okay?!" you yelled.
"We're fine!" four voices chorused.
You sighed at your little siblings. "You sure?!"
"Yeah!"
With another sigh, you put the plates in a cupboard and went to take the next ones.
Knock. Knock.
Oh? you raised your eyebrows, shrugged to yourself as you went to the door, shooting finger guns at yourself in a mirror you passed since you were feeling confident at the moment. "Hi," you said, opening the door to see a woman, probably in her 70s. "Can I help you?"
"Hello," she greeted back sweetly. "I'm the founder of this village. Since you and your family are new, we wanted to ask you to dinner."
"Uhh," you started.
"Hey! Give it back, it's mine!" one of your brothers yelled. "Y/n! Aiden's taking my stuff again!" the same voice yelled.
"Am not!" the other boy answered.
"Y/n! The boys are fighting!" two voices belonging to girls yelled.
You smiled awkwardly, stepping out as you shut the door behind you to drown them out. "I'm sorry about that, they get rowdy sometimes. About the dinner, I'm sure we would be delighted to come but the final word is my parents' at this. They should be back from the market any second now."
"Y/n, we're back!"
Like clockwork, you grinned to yourself, turning to see your parents. "Hey Ma, Pa. I'll take the groceries and you can take it from here," you said hurriedly, wanting to get away from the situation.
"You don't have to, sweetie. They were heavy even for us. At least don't carry all four at once," your mother said in a worried tone.
"I'll be fine," you grunted, taking the groceries before turning back to the woman and nodding to her. "It was nice meeting you, Señora." The door closed behind you and you quickly scurried to the kitchen and put down the groceries before running up the stairs to the two sets of twins.
"Is everything okay?" you asked, stepping in the room where all of them were down on the floor in a tangled mess of arms and legs.
"Y/n!" one of the girls yelled, scrambling up and hugging you around your waist. She pointed to the boys accusingly. "Aiden took Ethan's coloring book again."
"Aiden," you scolded, looking at one of the identical twins. Well not identical identical but you had to know them well to tell them apart. "Is what Lily says true?"
The boy pouted, looking up at you through his blond bangs. "Yes, but I couldn't find mine."
You put your hand out nonchalantly. "Give it to me, Denny." He put it in your palm with a guilty look.
You sighed, handing the coloring book to the other freckled twin. "Here you go, Eddy. Come on," you took Aiden's hand, "I'll help you find yours."
"Erm, could you help us first?" Rose spoke up, pointing to herself and her identical twin sister. "We don't know how to tie our shoelaces."
"Gracious!" you frowned. "Why are you wearing shoes inside?"
The other h/c haired twin looked down, a bit guilty. "They're new so we wanted to try them on before they get all soily outside."
You chuckled. "Alright. But don't let Ma and Pa see you." You quickly tied their shoelaces to which they responded by running around the room happily. You turned back to the ten-year-olds but they were already both in their own corner, humming as they colored their books, tongues sticking out occasionally with concentration.
You smiled fondly at the sight before drawing their attention. "Hey. I'm going out to get fresh air for a bit so behave, alright? Aiden, Ethan, look after your sisters. And Lily, Rose, please don't let Ma and Pa see you inside with shoes. I'd get in trouble."
"We got it, Y/n," the four chorused, already used to your antics.
