Soon enough, you fell into a peaceful slumber. Well, more or less.
You had a dream. It was hazy which was weird considering you understood and remembered the majority of your dreams even if you didn't make sense. As the sunlight hit your face, you opened your eyes and stared at the ceiling, trying to make sense of what had just happened.
You couldn't. Partly because it seemed like your mind was intentionally making you forget it and partly because Rose barged into your room and interrupted your thinking. "Come on!" she yelled.
"What? Where?" you groaned, sitting up.
"Mom said that when we've eaten breakfast, we can go to the Madrigals' and I want to show Antonio my picture book!" she announced stubbornly.
"Go to the Madrigals' by yourself," you huffed but stood up anyway, knowing full well that you were sarcastic and that your sister knew it too. "What time is it?"
"9 in the morning."
You raised your brows with surprise. Haven't slept that long in a while. Maybe meeting new people was tiring? "Are the others coming too?"
"Nope," Rose smiled. "Denny and Eddy got permission to walk around the town by themselves if they don't go too far and are back by lunch and Lily's going for a walk with Ma and Pa."
"Hmm," you hummed, shuffling through your clothes and settling on a simple yellow dress with a flower-ish pattern on it. "Alright. Get out so I can change."
[My imagination:
Again - the end of the chapter.]
She nodded obediently and went out quickly, apparently thinking you'd get moving faster if she did. She wasn't wrong. In a few minutes, you were out of your room and on your way downstairs to eat breakfast.
Your mother and father along with your brothers and Lily were ready to go out already. "Morning. Be back by lunch and behave," your mother instructed, looking at you and Rose sternly.
"Alright, Ma. Have a good time."
The five left without another word and you quickly devoured your toast before going over to Rose who was clutching the picture book in her hands. You got an idea and turned to your sister. "You get your shoes on, I'll get a book for myself too real quick."
Your book, of course, wasn't a picture book. It was a dense book, containing all the books of The Chronicles of Narnia. It was your favorite and also the only one you could take with you from your old home. [The publishing time of the books is 1950-1956 and the movie takes place in the 1950s/60s somewhere so...]
After you arrived back downstairs, Rose was already set to go and had a bit of an impatient look on her face.
"Geez, I woke up 10 minutes ago," you muttered before putting on your shoes and opening the door. "Come on, Rosy," you said, extending your hand. "Do they know we're coming?"
She shook her head. "But Antonio said yesterday while we were eating that it would be nice if we went today morning."
"Okay," you shrugged, looking around the town, book under one hand and Rose holding onto the other. The little community wasn't as busy as it was the last evening but that was to be expected, considering how early it still was. So in no time, you arrived in the yard of the magical house.
