"See you... around," he trailed off since you were already on your way to help the farmer you saw struggling with carrying all the fruit. He chuckled a bit before turning the other way and making way to his home, contently smiling to himself since he made a new friend.

A few weeks went by and you fell into a routine of helping around the town and having little chats with Malachi here and there but you were always too busy for the tour that he offered the first time you met. But although you had a pretty good and fun life, there had been something in the back of your mind for the past few days.

You rubbed your eyes under your glasses, yawning as you went to the dining room for breakfast. You were pretty sure you were late for breakfast... again. But you just couldn't get up. Because you couldn't fall asleep.

"Mornin', sorry I'm late," you muttered, serving yourself some food before plopping down. "Anything new?" you asked, gazing at the family with half-lidded eyes. They shook their heads and you heaved a sigh. "Alright."

"Y/n, are you alright?" Alma asked suspiciously.

"Just fine," you answered shortly, staring at your food.

"Are you sure? Maybe you should take a free day today?" she asked again, expressing the worry all the family had for you.

"I don't think I can, I'm babysitting Rosalie today," you denied. "Maybe tomorrow?"

Your grandfather looked at you sternly. "You promised that yesterday, Y/n."

You raised a brow at him. "Did I? Weird." You huffed at the end of the sentence before swallowing the last of your sandwich and your tea. "Thank you for the food." You stood up. "Can I take anyone else's dishes also?"

Isabela quietly handed you hers, looking at you worriedly as you fumbled with them. "Thank you," she said.

"No-" you yawned, "-problem. Thank you again. I'll be off now."

As you left the room, Camilo abruptly stood up.

"Camilo-"

But Camilo already stormed out of the dining room, not letting his father finish. "Y/n!" he called, running after you before setting a hand on your shoulder as you left the kitchen after dropping off the dishes.

You jumped with surprise before looking back. "Oh, Camilo," you smiled softly. "Did you need anything?"

"I did actually," he said. "Well, I'm pretty sure I was supposed to babysit Rosalie today so take a free day. Please."

"Oh, I guess Señora Pérez forgot to mention it," you concluded for yourself. "Well, if you insist."

"I do insist. C'mon, I'll take you to your room," he smiled, not bothered with the fact that he lied. He was going to have an easier day anyway so babysitting a kid wouldn't be hard for him. Especially if that meant you would get to rest.

You slowly trudged to your room before opening the door. "Thank you, 'Milo," you mumbled, too tired to fully pronounce his name. "Maybe I should take a nap."

"Have a good sleep," he said softly before the door closed. With a worried sigh, he went back to the dining room and sat down, playing with his food.

"What was that?" Mirabel asked curiously.

"I convinced Y/n to go to sleep," he said shortly. Everyone sighed in relief.

"Thank you," your grandfather said. "I was growing worried about her, it doesn't seem as if she's been sleeping or eating at all these past few days."

"Could it really be that she's that worried about her family?" Pepa asked. "Sure, it has been 3 weeks but maybe they forgot?"

"Esther's not a forgetting person though," your grandfather said with a sigh. "I think that's the problem here. Y/n's started overthinking the possibilities."
