A second chance

Chapter 19

It was the last day for Suryeon staying at her family's house. Logan was the one to fetch them. Logan is already waiting downstairs, while Suryeon is fixing Chaeyoung's hair. Her family were also downstairs waiting for the two to come down.

While Suryeon felt dizzy, her abdomen was aching the same as her head. She asked Chaeyoung to get her water.

"Chaeyoung-ah, can you bring water here?"

"Ne, eomma." Chaeyoung nods and runs downstairs. While Suryeon is trying to get her medicine. But her hand is trembling, and her whole body can't respond well. She is trying not to scream in pain. If she screamed, the people from below would hear her.

"Chaeyoung-ah, where's your mom?" Logan asked, he felt like something was already happening.

"She asked me to give her water." Logan's eyes get wider and give Jiwon a gaze while also waiting for Suryeon to come down.

"Ahhhh!!~!!!" Suryeon screamed, because she can't handle the pain anymore. Everyone heard her scream and they ran upstairs especially Logan who was very nervous. They opened the door and saw Suryeon crying in pain.

"Eomma!!" Chaeyoung shouted when she saw her mom struggling.

"Chaeyoung-ah! Go out first.. Go out!!" She shouted, she doesn't want her daughter to see her being like this. Everyone is trying to help her, but Suryeon keeps on giving Logan a signal not to be so obvious.

"Suryeon-ah!" Jiwon tries to help her sister stand up.

"You don't have to hide it. I knew about it." Logan reaches for the medicine and helps Suryeon to drink it.

Jinhu, Baekhyeon, Heekyung and Hyunshik are worried about Suryeon's status. They don't know what to do, because they don't know what is happening. Suryeon is lying in Logan's arms, Logan is trying to make Suryeon stay conscious.

"Suryeon-ssi... You told me you are getting better right.. So please stay awake. You already drank the medicine. You will be okay." Logan said.

Suryeon nods and collapses.

"Suryeon-ssi!! Suryeon-ssi." Logan patting Suryeon's face, worried. Jiwon tapped Logan's shoulder.

"Don't worry about Suryeon, she just fell asleep. Her medicine is too strong." Jiwon said while Logan carried Suryeon and laid her down on the bed.

Everyone went down and let Suryeon rest and sleep.

"What is happening to Suryeon, Jiwon Logan?" Heekyung asked worriedly, Logan just bowed his head the same as Jiwon. They don't know how to explain this to them.

"She is terminally ill. She had a malignant brain tumor. Sorry for not telling you earlier, eomma." Jiwon said, Heekyung's body weakens after hearing it. They all can't believe what has been revealed.

" But why didn't you tell us?" Hyunshik questioned them.

"Suryeon doesn't want to." Logan simply answered. He doesn't even care if he gets punched, all he cares about is Suryeon's status. He can't deny that he is so nervous and worried until now. Logan looked for Chaeyoung.

"Chaeyoung-ah!!" Logan looked around but he couldn't find Chaeyoung. He remembered the threat they received the other day. He rushed outside, his heart beating fast. Keep on calling Chaeyoung.

"Chaeyoung-ah!" He shouted once again, then a little hand pulling his shirt. When he saw that Chaeyoung was beside him, he immediately embraced her.

"Chaeyoung-ah.. Aigoo, Chaeyoung-ah." Logan said and brought Chaeypung inside the house.

He put his attention to the family, and since then every one of them has been silent. The silence is too loud.

"Survival rate?" Jinhu asked bravely though his heart was breaking for her sister.

"Why are you asking that to me, Hyung." Logan tried not to cry because he is holding Chaeyoung.

' We have to accept reality." Heekyung just ignored them and went inside Suryeon's room.

"Suryeon is getting better. The doctor said that to her." Logan denies the fact that any time they might lose her. They all went to Suryeon's room including Chaeyoung who insisted to see her mother.

Logan went out for a while to breathe fresh air. He can't breathe properly since the incident, this is the first he saw Suryeon's being like that.

He thought he would never cry anymore and was going to be strong for Suryeon, but he can't really handle it. He broke down and softly punched his heart.

"Suryeon-ssi..." All he can utter is her name.

After 5 minutes, he wiped his tears and went inside.

"Chaeyoung-ah, let's go outside. Do you want ice cream?" Logan called Chaeyoung and brought her outside.

They were about to go out when the family stopped him.

"Logan, can we talk for a moment?" Baekhyeon said,

"Are you willing to be with my granddaughter in times like this?" Baekhyeon asked him while looking at him directly with his eyes full of worries.

"Yes, sir. I am willing to be with her." Logan answered willingly.

"Can you promise us that you will be with her every time she doesn't feel good?" Hyunshik asked him. Logan nods. Jinhu and Jiwon patted his shoulder.

"Please take care of her." They said and left. Logan was left alone looking at Chaeyoung and smiled at her. He carried her.

"Can you call Logan ahjussi... Appa?" Logan asks Chaeyoung if she can call him appa.

"Appa..." Chaeyoung said and shyly smiled.

He smiled and kissed Chaeyoung on her hair.

"Let's go to eomma." They went upstairs and opened the door and they saw Suryeon staring at the ceiling.

" Suryeon-ssi, you are awake. Are you okay?" Logan asked and Chaeyoung ran towards her mom and sat beside her. Suryeon smiled at him.

"How about you, how are you?" Suryeon asked and cupped Logan's face.

Logan smiled at her and gave her a forehead kiss.

" I know you were surprised by that. Now you know the reason why I always want you to stay away from me. I don't want to hurt you. Worse is about to come, I don't want you and Chaeyoung to witness all of that." Suryeon said. It was obvious to her eyes she felt bad and sad.

"But now, you don't have to be alone fighting this. You have so many people around you. We are all here for you." Logan said and cupped her face. Suryeon nods and flashes a sweet smile.

She went down and her family is looking at her.

"Eomma, appa. I am sorry for hiding this." Suryeon said.

"I always say this to Logan and Jiwon unnie. But this time I will say this to you, oppa, eomma, appa, Arabeoji. I might forget you in the near future but always remember you will always be in my heart. My brain might not remember you but my heart does." She said and stepped closer to them. She hugged them one by one. Smiled like she doesn't have pain physically, mentally, and emotionally. She smiles, because she knows that if she smiles, she will be less of a burden to them.
