Kai Nol Limitz XIX woke up in a particularly good mood this morning. As he walked into his bathroom he couldn't help but notice his awful hair in the mirror.
Note to self: buy more hair gel.
He hummed to himself as he showered. He was pretty sure his best friend was dating the violent girl who had punched him in the cafeteria. Which, for anyone else, would be the equivalent of dating a raging bull, but in Bruce's case... well. He loved Bruce to death, but the boy was not very good at making friends. He also had no game whatsoever.

On his way downstairs he noticed his father shadow boxing in the corner, as he did every morning after his jog.
"Morning kiddo. Sleep well?" His father was shirtless, showing the muscular body he had gotten after years of being a professional boxer. Kai thought of his own skinny, unremarkable physique and wondered if they were truly related.

"Like a babe, pop, like a babe." He tossed his father a bottle of water from the fridge. "I'm hanging out with the debate kids tonight, so I'll be home a little late."

Brayken caught the bottle. "You plan on taking Bruce again?"

Kai sighed. " No can do. Last time I brought Bruce to hang with my debate gang he asked them why they didn't debate their virginities to leave."

Brayken laughed. " Yep, that sounds like him. You can stay out late since it's a Friday, but you better not scratch that car I just got you!"

" You can trust me pops. I'm off."

On his usual ride to the Kopierce house Kai blared his music. As he waited he wondered if he should shoot his shot with that shy blond boy in his trig class or not.
When Bruce finally did come out he was immediately pleasant.

" Turn this trash off!" He said as he heard Kai's music. Kai smiled as he simply turned the music up some more.

On the ride to school they discussed the usual topics: T.V, games, classes, anime, etc. Kai noticed the bags under his friend's eyes a week ago. Bruce had refused to tell him anything
As if he couldn't tell me, Kai thought to himself as he pulled into the school parking lot.

"So when are you gonna start paying for all the gas I use to pick you up every morning?" He asked as they entered the building.

Bruce snorted. " The same day you pay me back for all the comics you've stolen from me over the years."

"Yeah, those are mine now. You're never getting them back." Kai retorted

"Then i guess i have my own personal chauffeur."

Kai laughed before realizing he left his phone plugged into his aux cord.

"I left my phone in the car." He turned around and headed back to the parking lot.

" Hurry before the bell rings." Bruce yelled after him with a grin. " You wouldn't want to ruin that perfect attendance now would you?"

Kai gave him an obscene gesture over his shoulder as he walked down the hall past students rushing to class.

As he got to his car, he realized that the parking lot was surprisingly empty. He found it quite creepy. He grabbed his phone quickly and turned to get to class. He stopped when he heard a "meow" from behind.

There was a black kitten on top of his car that he hadn't noticed until now. "Aww you're so cute!" He gushed as he started taking pictures. "Your eyes are so odd, little guy." He noticed the kitten's odd wine colored eyes that almost seemed to glow.

"I gotta go little guy, but one more picture for the road." As Kai clicked the button the kitten jumped off his car and snatched the phone out of his hands.

"You gotta be kitten me right meow." He laughed at his own joke as he stepped towards the kitten, only for it to run off into the shadows of some nearby trees.
