“You what!” The other members of the house yelled at Bruce.
“You know, you guys should spend more time learning manners than killing things.” The boy replied sarcastically. “I said I know where the court is.” Mr. Safen pushed past Beangula.
“Sorry Bruce, what we mean is how could you possibly know where they are?” Bruce flashed them a smug grin while he reclined on the couch. “Finally! Sit back boys, girls, and Layva! Let the slickest man on Earth tell you how he achieved, in one night, what every Horizon Guard in town couldn’t do in months.”
“Besides almost getting killed by cats and birds in an alley by the weakest member in the court, you mean.” Nix asked, his shoulder wrapped in sole channeling bandages.
Bruce frowned at the man. “Layva, can you stab him again?”
“Enough!” Beangula yelled, getting everyone’s attention. “Bruce, lifes are on the line! Take your head out of your own ass and tell us this information!” Bruce flinched and sat upright. “Y-yes ma’am!” He cleared his throat. “When we had Duchess tied up, before Jack and his beanstalk saved her, I slipped a tracking device into her back pocket.”
“Brilliant!” Rolist exclaimed. “ That was quick thinking, my boy! And you say you don’t want to be a Horizion, what a waste.” Bruce tried to hide the happiness the praise brought him.
“Wait!” Kai exclaimed. “Where did you get a tracker? I was with you all weekend and you didn’t get one.” Bruce looked away and grimaced.
“Okay Kai, so you remember how you kept losing your new phone at those chess club meets, and got that tracking app?”
Kai’s face paled as he checked his pockets. “No! You didn’t!” Bruce shrugged and pointed at Beangula. “You heard her! Lives are at stake.”
“I worked all summer to get that phone, while you just spent your money on that stupid hoodie with your initials on it!” The boy yelled at his friend. “I cleaned vomit out of a foam pit for a month and you gave it to the first gross, leather pants wearing, evil, biker chick you saw!”
Ravel rolled up and set a hand on Kai’s back. “Don’t worry Kai, I’ll buy you another one, a better model if you want!” The boy calmed down. “Mine had a limited edition keychain on it too.”
“I’ll get you another one of those too.” Ravel resured him. “How many do you want, ten? Fifteen?”
“Mr Limitz!” Beangula called. “Dangerous killers… after you and your families… ringing any bells?”
“Oh yeah, my bad!” He pulled out his laptop from his bag. “Here.” He turned the screen so everyone could see their location on the map. “My phone is at 6482 Alogos street.”
“I know that place.” Mr Safen said, taking the computer for a closer look. “This used to be a canned fish factory back in the day, it’s completely abandoned and on the edge of town, the locations of the deaths indicated that they were located somewhere in the middel of the city. We never even checked thought to check the outskirts… this Majesty character is smarter than we gave him credit for.”
Bruce laughed out loud. “Well that’s relieving! Here we were thinking this guy is the final boss, the big bad, but he's just some dude in a fish factory, calling himself a king.” Bruce took a mock bow to Kai.
“Your majesty, now that the horizons are dead, what would you like to eat for dinner, mackerel or salmon?” Kai responded by holding himself with dignity and grace.
“You fool! I desire sardines, of course! One more mistake like that and you’ll be sleeping with the fishes, like Didrick!” The two boys laughed at their little joke, while the others ignored them.
