"He took him!" Bruce stormed into Mr. Safen's classroom, interrupting his lunch.
His teacher lifted an eyebrow, his sandwich hanging limply in his grip.

"Calm down and explain."

Bruce took a deep breath. " Its Didrick, he came and kidnapped Kai!"
Rolist jumped to his feet, sandwich forgotten.

"Are you positive?"

Bruce thrusted the crumpled note at his massive teacher. While he read it time seemed to come to a crawl for Bruce. He got more and more anxious with every second that passed. Who knew what that maniac would do to Kai. Memories of alley cats mauling him near to death flooded his mind like a tsunami.

When Mr Safen finally finished reading and rereading the short note he swore and slammed a fist on the desk so hard it was a surprise it didn't break.

"That bastard has brought another child into this!"

If the situation was different Bruce would be surprised to see his teacher lose his cool.

Mr. Safen looked up at Bruce, his eyes glowed a blue so dark it was almost black.

" Leave this to us Bruce. I swear we'll get your friend back."

Bruce blinked in disbelief before he erupted. " If you think I'm not going you're dead fucking wrong!"

"Watch your mouth. This is officially Horizon Core business, dealing with rogue mystic users." Safen said, returning his voice to calm and persuasive.

Bruce didn't back down an inch. "I don't give a damn. The note said for me to come alone. If you show up ready to battle he'll kill Kai." Bruce didn't care about Horizon Core, he didn't want to risk his life fighting monsters for strangers who wouldn't know he existed. But for this, for his friend he'd take Didrick alone if he had to.

"This is why I've spent everyday training. And Layva and Clover are both my age."

"Clover is older, and both have almost a decade of experience under their belts. You've had two weeks." Safen walked around his desk to Bruce, towering over him. " You're staying at the mansion and that is final."

His eyes glowed that dark blue color again. Bruce, in return, activated his soul, his own eyes shining a lighter shade.

"I'm going to that zoo," Bruce concentrated sole through his arm and blue mist began to swirl around his open palm.

"Even if that means I have to take out Didrick and you."

"I say let him come." Came a voice from the corner. Bruce turned to see Layva leaning in the doorway, arms crossed over her chest.

"I've taught the kid, he's up for it."
Bruce normally would have commented that they were the same age and that her calling him "kid" was annoying. But right now he was just happy to have back up.

Mr. Safen looked from Layva to Bruce and sighed, his eyes returning to their natural color.

"I hate when you kids gang up on me." He paused and thought. "Fine, you can come." Rolist gave Bruce a stare so intense that he actually had to look away. " W-what?"

"If you do this, if you come, you will be joining the Horizon Core. No excuses."

"Hell no! I'm not joining you're suicide club."

Mr. Safen moved so fast that Bruce barely saw him move before he felt his back slam into the desk.

"Then you'll be taking a little nap while we save Mr. Limitz." Bruce panicked as Safen raised his fist to knock him out.

"Blue Flare!"

A large flash of blue light erupted from Bruce's hand and blinded Safen enough for him to kick him in the stomach and hopped to his feet.
