“You’re Majesty, I take it.” Rolist said, speaking for the group. The projected man gave the Horizon a dull look.
“You’ve killed all the others in my court, so I think the process of elimination should confirm your suspicions.”Nix pushed to the front of the group and threw one of his axes at the Court leader. Majesty blinked slowly as the weapon flew harmlessly through the projection of light.
“Although, with this bunch I can’t imagine how you managed to take them out.” He rolled his eyesNix, not understanding the insult, pointed his other axe at the man. “Come out and fight us, you coward!”
Clover slammed her face into the palm of her hand. “Unamed, why did we let him speak?” She muttered.
Beangula stepped up and pushed Nix’s axe down, subtly telling him to ‘shut the hell up’. “Majesty.” She said, cutting to the chase. “ What do you want?” The stocky man turned his attention to her.
“Then let me not waste your time. I want the same thing you do.” He paused. When the group didn’t respond he sighed before adjusting his tie and continuing. “2846 Banner drive.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Nix blurted out. “That's the number of gravestones you want when I ki-” He was cut off by Layva bashing him in the head with her fist, knocking him out.
Majesty sighed in relief. “Thank you for that. And that was an address.” He looked at Layva before his glance returned to the adults. “My address. You all wish to find me, well here I am!” He spread his arms out as if showing that he was exposed.
“All of you, versus me. This should make your jobs a little easier. No need to thank me.”
Jean Kopierce rolled her eyes at the arrogant man. “Oh for the love o-, Bruce, we’re leaving.” As the mother and son turned their attention away from the screen of light Majesty spoke to them.
“Ah, there you are Ms. Kopierce. I was wondering where you were at this time of night.” Jean paused and subtly motioned for Bruce to help reposition her to face the man. She narrowed her eyes as she spoke. “I don’t believe we’ve been affiliated.”
Majesty smiled down at her. “No, not officially, but I could be considered a friend of the family.”
“Listen, spooky.” Bruce said, deciding he had enough of the man. “Cut the riddles. What are you getting at?”
The Court’s leader huffed. “All three of you Kopierces are just so… difficult to deal with.” Bruce and Jean’s eyes widened at the number Majesty spoke. This only brought a wider smile to the man’s face. “You catch on fast, huh?” He stepped to the side and revealed an old mattress resting on a rusty bed frame. On the bed was an unconscious young woman with her hands bound behind her with fraying ropes.
Bruce’s blood went cold as he recognized his sister. His mother pushed off of him and tried to approach the screen. “You sick son of a b-” Jean fought back a shout of agony as her strained body refused to listen to her. Bruce managed to catch her before she could hit the ground. As his mother trembled in his arms from rage and pain, Bruce glared at the stocky man on the screen. His newly found hatred was impossible to ignore.
“Majesty!” Rolist shouted at the man. “Leave the hostage out of this! We’ll play your little game, but you will keep civilians out of these affairs.” The stocky man gave Mr. Safen another dull look.
“You’re not that good at negotiating, are you?” He asked the other man sarcastically. “This is my insurance plan. I don’t want the party to begin until all of it’s guests arrive.” He spared each member of the group a glance. “In a timely manner that is. I see I am not in the presence of the brightest, so I’ll sum things up.” A moment later three balls of light came flying into view.
