Chapter Forty: Pushed Limitz

Once the fire settled down Kai swam up and peeked his head out of the pool. They had been tricked. 
Bruce blew up a clone by mistake and set off a chain explosion. Kai had been able to dive into the Lively’s olympian pool just in time, but Bruce hadn’t been so lucky. The boy had landed in the heart of the explosion.

He looked around frantically, searching for Bruce, hoping he was okay. When he finally spotted the other boy his blood ran cold.

Bruce tried to catch his breath as he kneeled on the scorched and cracked concrete. “I… I’m alive?” He muttered to himself in glee and shock. 
When he realized that he was not going to be able to avoid the explosion, he summoned all of his sole and sent it flying out of his body in every direction. The explosion of power had been strong enough to blow back the fire and protect him from the heat.

I didn’t think Blue Nova would actually work! 

Bruce tried to stand to his feet, but quickly had to kneel back down, his head suddenly dizzy.

“What in the name of god are you, kid?” Said a voice from behind him. Bruce sighed heavily and looked towards the source of the words. “Duchess.” He grumbled.

The real Court member limped towards him, her face and body dripping blood. 
Despite the injuries she wore a triumphant smirk. “In the flesh, loser!” 
Bruce tried to crawl away but was quickly hauled up by the collar of his pajamas. 

Forget sole! 
Bruce began throwing punches at the woman’s unprotected face. 
Duchess seemed unbothered. “Seriously, brat, what the hell are you?” She asked while examining him. “First the sword, then the gloves, the mist, and now you got a way to survive me busting in your face?”

Bruce answered by slamming his fist into her jaw. She reached out with her free hand and flick the boy in the nose. “Cut it out, meat stick.”

Bruce let out a cry of pain and clutched his bleeeding nose.

Duchess rolled her eyes. “So what? Wanna borrow a tampon, ya pussy?” She concentrated and a clone split from her body. “How can I help you, sexy?” The imposter asked. The original pulled out a lindium knife from her back pocket and handed it to her double. 

“Cut off the kid’s pleasure pump, I’m gonna use it on the blond chick when I take her home tonight.”

Bruce began to struggle harder. “Wait, wait!” He pleaded as he defended his manhood. “Not that, please! Look, I know the Horizon Guard’s secrets! I could be a spy for Majesty, be your secretary, anything!” 

The clone slowly reached for his shorts. “Oh, god! No! No! I’m begging you!” He yelled as tears began to form in his eyes.

Both Duchess busted out into laughter. “You’re a riot, kid!” The one holding him wiped a tear from her eye. “Calm down, I was just kidding.” The boy sighed and felt some of his life return.

“I don’t wanna touch that thing, so I’m just gonna gut you like a fish.” Her clone aimed the knife at his chest.

Bruce gulped deeply and spoke in a trembling whisper. “Can we go back to option one, please?”

Kai saw a Duchess holding a knife to his friend’s chest. He hurried to get out of the water.

He used nova, didn’t he? Kai swam to the edge of the pool as fast as he could. If he is out of sole he's dead! Bruce was struggling in vain, he couldn’t break the woman’s grip.
