Duchess laughed maniacally. “Count, make me something… colorful for the boy and the amazon bitch.” She smiled wickedly at Clover. “Leave the blond to me.”

Count, who stood on a leaf beneath the other court members, paled. “B-but Duchess… can’t we just kill them quickly? I don’t see any rea-”

“Shut it, mouth breather!” The silver haired woman interrupted. “You may be the most powerful one here, but you’re also the most spineless!” She pointed at Bruce who was currently struggling to get out of the vine’s embrace. “That’s the loser who killed your teammate,Knight. Even if that pretty boy deserved it you're just gonna let him get away with killing him?”

Count looked from Duchess to Bruce and the trepidation in his eyes was replaced with anger. “Y-you were the one who killed him!?” He held out a hand and from the vine grew a large venus flytrap. “Y-you didn’t have to kill him!” The scrawny man yelled, his face growing red. “He may have seemed rude, vain, and heartless.”

“Don’t forget an animal murdering, kidnapping, murderous piece of shit who tried to kill me first!” Bruce added. Count tightened his grip, causing the boy to groan.

“He was doing it for the greater good!” The young man shouted back. “B-bad things have to be done in order to save good people!” The man pointed at Bruce and the venus fly trap snaked its way towards him, maw dripping green drool.

There is no way I’m being killed by a super mario villain!

Bruce shook violently as the plant crept closer towards his face.

What now! If I use Blue Nova I can get out of here, but it’ll use up all my sole! It was his only option, so he began to expand his power outward, before he remembered something important.

“My god, I am so dumb!” Bruce thought of Kai and hoped he hadn’t met these guys before they did. He felt his sole travel down the new branch of his power.
“Pacifist!” The boy formed Kai’s mystic and used his new strength to break out of the vines. “How did he-?” He heard Baron exclaim. Bruce punched the approaching flytrap with all of his might. The plant exploded into slime dripping pieces.

He looked down at the blue metal on his fist, now stained with green goo, and smiled. “Wow! I didn’t know you packed such a punch, Kai.” Not wasting any more time, Bruce jumped off of the ripped vines that had once held him, and landed on the one that imprisoned Clover.
“That's new!” The blond said to him as he tried to free her, referring to his gauntlets. “Yeah.” Bruce joked as he ripped some of the vines away. “Swords and cannons are just so last season, ya know?”

Before he could hear her response he was tackled by something. Bruce went flying to the floor. He landed roughly on his back, knocking the air out of him. “Well, aren't you full of surprises?”

The boy looked up to see that Baron had him pinned down, his eyes glowing a reddish brown. Despite the man being short he was powerful. His voice was disturping, it was gravelly and high all at once. “My king has no need for suprises. But the head of the one who killed my kin would make for a nice one.” Bruce, not having regained his breath, couldn’t respond. Baron opened his mouth wide, revealing rows of sharp teeth that reminded him of a shark.

“You bit off more than you could chew with us, kid. Now it’s time I repaid the favor!”

“Bruce!” Clover shouted as she saw what the man was about to do. He had broken her bonds just enough to get an arm free. She formed a tommy gun and opened fire at the man’s back. However, before the golden bullets hit, Baron’s back glowed a reddish brown and a hard surface sprang forth, deflecting the bullets.
