Bruce was still screaming even after he hit something hard. He opened his eyes, still screaming, to find himself in one of the mansion’s living rooms. He surveyed the area, his screaming slowly ending before stopping completely.
“That is an impressive set of lungs my god has given you, young man.” Said a voice behind him. Bruce turned to see the hunch-backed man standing a few feet away. Setting aside where he was, he jumped to his feet and formed a sword.
“And that’s an impressive amount of ugly he’s given you.” He shot back, his blade pointed at the man.
Baron held up his hands. “Hold on, young man!” He said urgently. “You can’t use your soul until Marquis gets here.” Bruce took another step away from the man while he laughed.
“And tell me, Quasimoto, why the hell would I do th-” He stopped short as he saw a tiny creature near his ankle. The small being had the head of a hippopotamus and a body that resembled a potted plant. Bruce gulped as the hollowed eyed nadir aimed its empty sockets on the sword he held. With a squeaking roar the miniature monster leaped at the boy.
With a shriek he ducked and began to run away from the beast as the odd nadir began to hop after him, it’s cumbersome potted plant body clearly not built for speed.
“By his majesty.” Baron said to himself as he watched the boy run from the weak creature. “This is the kid who killed Knight?” He sighed, before pulling out a linium dagger, filling it with sole and throwing it at the boy’s head.
Suddenly another figure came hurtling out of the colorful portal. The tall child with the sword making mystic, Layva, Majesty had called her, threw a red dagger of her own at the projectile heading for her ally’s skull, before landing on her feet.
Baron thought to himself. She's good!... Just as my King said she would be.
He was knocked out of his thoughts, however, as the girl threw a blade at high speeds towards him. Baron, forced to use more power, dived out of the way.
Clover came flying through the portal next. She landed with a roll before getting to her feet. She looked down at herself. “We’re alive?” She asked the tall girl. Layva gave her a dull look in response.
“Sweet.” She looked around. “Where’s Bruce?” Layva pointed behind her, where Clover saw the boy running from a pathetic nadir.
The blond shot Layva a look of disbelief, which the dark haired girl returned. Clover sighed deeply before forming a pistol and shooting the small nadir in the head as Bruce ran past. It died instantly.
“Dude… seriously?” She asked. Bruce came to a screeching halt and looked back and forth from the dead nadir to the looks of disappointment on the two girls' faces.
“Hey!” He yelled at them. “I killed a kaiju! So until you two do the same, I don’t wanna hear it!”
Clover gave Layva a devilish smile. “Hell of a student you’ve been teaching.”
“Ha… Ha.”Layva said sarcastically
“Okay, I’m calling bullshit!” Came a voice from multiple directions. Dozens of multi-colored portals opened, surrounding the three of them. Duchess clones walked out of each one, all holding linium daggers.“I can buy Knight, but there is no way this brat killed a kaiju.”
A larger portal opened behind the squad of clones, releasing the rest of Majesty’s court, including the presumed real Duchess.Layva and Clover went back to back, aiming blade and barrel at the copies. Bruce looked at the real Duchess and forced a smile he didn’t feel. “Aw, come on Duchie. I totally killed a kaiju. I’ll prove it, come down here and I’ll show you exactly how I did it.” He pointed at her with a sword of his own.
