“I don’t want any of your damn tea!” Baron yelled for the second time. “I don’t want your tea, your ice cream, your cakes, cookies, scones, donuts, pies, jams, jellies, or lemonade!” He said in one breath.
Ravel stared down at him from the top of the stairs, nervousness apparent on her face. “Well…” She said as her fingers fidgeted. “I’m not old enough to partake yet, but perhaps we could discuss this over a bottle of wine!” She rubbed the back of her head uncomfortably. “Although, we are in limbotory so there is no telling if the alcohol is safe or n-”
“That’s enough child!” Baron declared as he pulled a bag from his pocket. “This is my problem with people like you.” He pulled out a tuff of brown fur. “You think everything can go your way just by throwing things at it!” Without warning Baron placed the fur into his mouth and swallowed it.
Ravel cringed at the sight. “Problems with people like me? Why don’t we discuss the problems you have with Horizon Guards, I promise you we can reach an agreeme-”
The young woman stopped short as Baron’s body began to change. “Horizon Guards?” He said as his shoes began to stretch and rip. “Yes, those stuck up, mystic worshipping snobs deserve my king’s punishment just as much.” Pieces of his loafers went flying in every direction as large, flat, and furry feet erupted from their leather prison. “But they aren’t the ones I was referring to.”
Ravel stared in shock, as she realized that the man’s legs had just transformed into those of a kangaroo’s. Before she could even come to terms with this development Baron leapt towards her!
“I WAS REFERRING TO YOU FILTHY RICH PEOPLE!”
Ravel dove out of the way at the last moment as the hunch backed man barreled into the wall. His impact left feet sized craters in the plaster.
If… if I had been any slower he’d have hit me! Ravel’s body began to tremble as she realized her opponent’s intentions. H-he really wants to kill me!
Baron righted himself and bounded towards the girl again. Ravel poured more sole into her mystic, the same way Beangula had told her years ago, and dodged the attack faster than before.
“Sir, I’m not sure what happened to you and wealthy people.” She dodged again as the man catapulted himself towards her. “But I’m sure it was very traumatic. I want to understand why you feel like this! Please tell me!”
Baron stopped attacking. “You’re a squirrly little one aren’t you?” He said in his disturbing voice. He pulled back out the bag from earlier. “My mystic, Animalgamation , allows me to take on characteristics of creatures I eat.” He pulled out a sharp object and a greenish-brown shard. “Believe it or not, I have a code about these things.” He threw the two items into his mouth. “I usually refuse to kill ladies, children, and respectable people.”
His body began to morph and alter. A large turtle shell formed itself in a flash of rust colored light, covering his back and stomach. Next, large black and white porcupine quills sprouted from the back shell.
“Unfortunately for you my king has demanded your execution and his word is my law! It has and always will overpower my feeble mind!” He narrowed his eyes at Ravel as he turned his back to her. “But you being a soulless checkbook will ease my mind… ever so slightly.”
As if on cue the porcupine quills began firing out of his back at incredible speeds. Ravel tried to dodge the dozens of projectiles, but she was not fast enough. She winced as she felt blood trickling down her arm, staining her white nightgown.
“Aww!” The disfigured man mocked. “That looked really expensive. But I’m sure they can buy you another one to be buried in!” He shot more quills even faster this time. Ravel poured power into the balls of her feet and jumped upward. She underestimated how much sole she used and as a result crashed into the ceiling of the living room and plummeted back down.
