I can't believe how stupid I am. I allowed Daniel to sleep in the same bed with me. Yes, he had helped with the nightmares and has been a complete gentleman but still, how did I know he wasn't going to be like Jordan. Sure, my father had hired him to "date me" and had made sure he was like him but you never know.
After eating breakfast, upon which Amanda didn't eat, I went back to the room. On the bed, was all my stuff from the house. I looked at the pile books, clothes, and oh my God he even got my jar of money. I quickly opened it and found that all $500 was there. I smiled and looked around the room. Something white caught my eye. A piece of paper laid on the pillow where I slept last night. I picked it up and began to read it.
Emily,
I found your stuff when I went by your house. Your father wasn't home. I see you like books, have Amanda take you to the library here.
-Daniel
Daniel had risked his life to go get me my stuff even after I was mean to him. I touched my pillow hoping to feel some comfort but I didn't. He cared about me. He was perfect and I had to admit he was beautiful. But, would he want someone who was broken? I didn't think so. I rubbed my tears away as Amanda came I. She looked startled but said nothing. She just sat next to me.
"He brought you your stuff didn't he?" She asked.
I nodded and smiled. "He did. He said my father wasn't home either. That means that he is out looking for me."
Amanda looked at me the grabbed the note from my hand. "Do you mind?"
Before I could even answer she had read the note and then handed it back. She got up from the bed, and started moving her lip very fast. When I asked her about it she told me that she was thinking. A minute later she looked at me and said, "Why don't I take you to the library?"
When I didn't answer, she grabbed my hand and yanked me from the bed. She was very strong and pulled me into the library. Once inside, I was amazed that this many books could fit into one room. Thousands were here and it startled me a bit by how old they were.
"Emily, I have to... go to the bathroom. You'll be okay for a while right?"
"Yes, I'll be fine."
I walked around the room. There was rows of books about vampores, demons, and werewolves. Books about different countries and about fighting. I picked up a book that had no title only to find that it was written in Latin. I picked up one next to it called "My Beloved". I opened it and it was letters written to someone lover. I loved things like this and began to read.
About halfway threw the book I found a image of a girl. The girl looked a lot like Amanda. So much that it could have even been her. I flipped to the back of the book and saw that it was published by a man named James Howard. I had no idea who that was. Maybe Amanda and this girl were long lost cousins. The book was old but not worn yet. I heard the door open and quickly put the book under the chair. Amanda came to where I was without knowing. And I had moved to a window seat surrounded by shelves.
"Did you find anything good?" She asked.
"Yeah, this book on vampires." I replied.
Her face changed for a second then she sat by me. She held her hand for the book. I handed it to her and she opened the front cover quickly, then gave me the book back.
"I have to go somewhere. My mom, Beth, is home if you need anything okay?"
I nodded. I hated how they were babysitting me. I was 16 not 2. Yet they had been nice and let me into their home. Amanda left and I stood up, taking my books with me to my room. Once there, I looked at the time. It was already 4:16! How did that happen? I had missed lunch to so I was very hungry. I decided though that before I found food, I would clean up the room, making if more presentable for Daniel. I made the bed and then decided to put up all my stuff that was on the bed. I went into the bathroom with my undergarments and put them in the top drawer along with the sleep outfit. I was a little embarrassed that Daniel saw all my bras and panties. Then I hung my clothes in the closet and the rest went into drawers. The books I put on the shelf and then, I laid on the bed. Most of Daniel's stuff was in this room yet, there was a spot for all my stuff as well. It confused me but I figured I'd ask when he came home. That got me thinking. What would he do? Would he come here? Or would he leave me alone? He was nothing but nice to me and I pushed him away. And what would I do? Would I wait for him or try to find him myself?
"Emily?" A female voice called out,"Can I come in?"
"Sure" I hollered.
A young looking woman came in and smiled at me.
"Hi I'm Beth, Daniel and Amanda's mom."
There was no way she young and had two kids. She looked just like Daniel and Amanda not to mention her husband Javis.
"Hi, it's nice to meet you." I said smiling.
She smiled back. "Dinner is ready. I don't know if your hungry but," She trailed off.
"Yes, I'm hungry." I replied.
I got up and followed her downstairs. She had the table set for one. She handed me the food and then sat down. Did these people ever eat?
"Beth, are you going to eat anything?"
Smiling she said, "said No, I'm on a health kick. I'm drinking my food."
Why was she on a health kick if she had a perfect figure?
"But your so pretty. Where do you think you need to lose weight at?"
Laughter rang from her. "I put on a couple of pounds. It's not noticeable but, I can tell."
I nodded and we lapped into silence. I ate my pasta and then when I was done she asked me if needed anything else. I told her no and she told me good night. I went back to my room and grabbed the book with Amanda's picture in it. I went into the bathroom and filled the tub. I jumped into the shower while it filled then when I was done I climbed in. I read the book quickly and at the end I found something that I couldn't believe. At the end, there was a letter. One that said what I needed. The letter was from a man named James. At the end, he had written a single line. "I love you Amanda". I dropped the book on the tile floor. What were these people?
