I was halfway to California when my phone began to rang. I looked at it and saw that Amanda was calling me. I picked it up.
"Hello?" I said.
"She left! I have no idea where she went. She jumped out the window. You need to go after her!" she said.
God damn it! Fuck my life! She ran away from me. I turned and ran back to Oragon. 30 minutes later, I arrived at my house. Her sent went in the direction of the river! Shit, that water was too strong for people who couldn't hold themselves right in the water. I ran, screaming her name as loud as I could. I made it to the river.
"Emily!" I called.
I turned my head, seeing her at the last minute. There she was fighting for her life.
"Emily!" I called again running towards her.
"Go away! I don't need your help!" She called.
God damn it! Why did she have to be so stupid.
"Emily, your so stubborn. Let me help you!"
she refused still. She kicked the rock and it actually began to float away!
"Daniel!" She hollered.
As the water awent crashing down on her, I dove in and began to swim towards her. I fighting another current, and then I reached her. I picked her up. Her eyes were closed and she began coughing. I attempted to pull her into my arms but she started screaming.
"Emily, what's wrong?" I asked.
"My foot is stuck but there is so much blood, I don't want you to get bothered by it."
Of all the things right now, she would be worried about it was blood. I dove under the water, and then it hit me. She was right. The blood was coming out very strong, fast and thick. The smell was welcoming. I moved my lips towards her foot, just a taste, but water pushed her down. I quickly got my focus back, moved her foot and then stood up. Her body was being pushed towards mine. I picked her up and she wrapped her arms around my neck. I walked quickly out of the river into dry land.
"Do you mind telling me why you have a death wish?" I yelled.
Tears filled her eyes. "I don't want to be a burden anymore. It wasn't a death wish, I was trying to get away so I wouldn't bother you and your family anymore."
I pulled her into the ground so that she could relax. I couldn't say anything to her as I was so full of rage.
"Your not a burden. I told you, your my mate. Why would you feel that way?"
she took a deep breath. "All my life I have been told that I was a burden. Then you came and saved me but I had to depend on everyone there to help me. I thought that if I left, you wouldn't feel the need to tell me that you cared and felt mated to me. I don't want you to have fake feelings for me."
I couldn't believe it. She thought that I had fake feelings for her. I pushed her gently to the ground and laid over her. I kissed her neck, her eyes, her forehead. Her tears I licked away with my tongue. Then, I kissed her. She kissed me back with as much passion as I was giving her. I turned and rolled so that I wasn't crushing her. I pulled away to give her breath and slowly kissed her collar bone. Then, I stopped. Her eyes were glazed over and I kissed her nose then looked at her.
"I hold no fake feelings for you. You are very important to me. I don't know how else to prove it to you other than time. But that doesn't mean that you go on a suicide trip."
I watched as my words sunk in.
"See, this is what I mean. You should be mad." She said.
So that was what the problem was. She had only know hate never love or kindness.
"I'm not mad, I'm hurt that you would think that I'd have fake feelings for you and then you ran from me. But I'm not mad."
I touched her lips and she smiled.
"It just doesn't make sense." She said.
"What doesn't?"
"For you to care about me. I mean let's face it. I'm an ugly girl who is no longer pure and has tons of baggage" she said.
Oh so because of how she saw herself she thought that I would see her the same way.
"Look, you don't see yourself clearly. I think your beautiful, you were raped so to me you are still pure and as for baggage, everyone has it."
She was shivering as the wind blew. I touched her, "come on, your cold. Let's get you home, take a hot shower then I say we go out."
She smiled. "Like a date?"
I smiled back. "Yes."
The thought of having to walk at a human's pace made me frown.
"Can I show you something? It's how a vampire moves through the woods."
She looked scared.
"You've already done it!" I told her.
She nodded and I picked her up.
"Ready?" I asked.
