Amanda found me and boy was she pissed.
"Did you kill her father?" She screamed.
I couldn't lie to her. "Yes but, you weren't there. You didn't see what I saw. He hurt her. Why should she be worried about him finding her?"
She moved towards me. "Don't you think it would cause a problem is she found out? Or I don't know, the police?"
"I staged it. Look, I'll tell her later but, she's not ready."
Amanda nodded. I think that she knew Emily was important to me.
"Are you going to tell her what we are?" She asked suddenly.
I had no idea. I was a vampire and she was human. Humans weren't suppose to know that we existed. Plus, when she found out that we had been together in the same bed, she flipped. Although I understood why, how long would that last? If, like I hoped, she let me in the room with her again sometime, how would she reach to me being a vampire?
"I don't know," I told her. "It will all depend on how she reacts with me being in her room. She acted weird this morning, like we had done something wrong."
She smiled and brushed her hair from her face.
"Yes, I felt that when I came up the stairs. You have to remember that she doesn't know who we are. Not what, but who. While she was wanting you subconsciously, mentally, how would she know what you would do to her in her sleep?"
I'd never admit it to her but Amanda was right.
Today I was going up to Canada. There was a vampire there who decided to keep humans as pets. It was not okay because it killed them, and they were mostly beautiful girls.
"So, so you want to come with me to Canada?"
"Sure, I haven't been there in a while." She said.
When we got there, I knocked on the door. A young lady opened it.
"Hello sir, madam, may I help you?" She looked to be at least 17.
"Yes, I wish to speak with your master."
I could hear him upstairs making love to a pet of his. Then, there was the scream as he bit into her. I winced. Amanda looked sick.
"He's busy. Why don't you come inside and wait?"
I nodded and sat in the living room. The man began coming down the stairs.
"Master, there are people here to see you." The girl replied.
"Sweet girl, thank you. You shall be awarded today. Go upstairs and get into some of the special clothes and I'll be there soon."
The girl smiled and ran up the stairs. He came into the room and sat down. My sister was standing behind him as he sat.
"What can I do for..."
Amanda had begun choking him. I walked up to him and bit his neck. Then we tore him apart and threw him into the fire. His blood was all over me. I went into his closet and pulled out clothes.
"Ready?" I asked Amanda.
She nodded and we made our way home.
When we got home it was eleven and Beth was sitting on her computer.
"She's been restless, screamed a couple of times. I made sure she was okay though."
I nodded and ran up the stairs to my room. Emily was sitting up in bed when I walked in.
"Hey, how are you feeling?" I asked.
She pushed herself deeper into the mattress and she looked completely terrified.
"What are you?" She whispered.
I was stunned. How had she figured it out? We where careful. I had no idea what to say.
"Are you going to answer me?" She asked.
"You know, or you wouldn't have asked." I replied.
She looked petrified. "Tell me. Say it."
I took a deep breath and replied. "Tell me and I'll tell you if your right."
I wanted to hear her say the words.
"Vampire" she muttered.
I froze. How the hell had she guessed it. I knew what everyone else in the house had heard yet I had nothing to say.
"Emily, I'm not going to hurt you." I said.
She looked nervous yet not afraid. I took a step forward and touched her hand.
"I don't hunt humans. None of us too. I only drink the blood of animals. Others don't but I do." I told her.
I didn't know what to do. If I touched her, would she leave?
"Can I have some time please?" she asked.
Although it wasn't what I wanted, I left.
"I'll be downstairs. just call if that's what you want."
I opened the door and Amanda was outside. James was with her.
"How the fuck did she figure it out?" I demanded.
"I don't know! She was reading a book about vampires but it said nothing that would have given clues."
Rage built in me.
"Well how did she guess?" I said.
"Well, Daniel I don't think your going to like this but when Beth went into her room, she had this book." James said.
God damn this book!! Who the hell keeps old love notes! I threw the book at James and took off. I ran and sat down outside. Emily was never going to want to be with me. She kicked me out of the room and had decided to not to even let me talk. I found a tree and up-rooted it. Throwing it across the forest. When I calmed down enough to act like a normal person, I went and sat down in the living room.
An hour later, I heard my name come from Emily. I ran up the stairs to the door and knocked. When I opened the door Emily was lying on the bed with her eyes bloodshot.
"I'm sorry." She spluttered and tears began coming down.
Quickly, I flashed towards her. I sat down on the bed and pulled her into my arms.
"Shh, it's alright. Your okay." I soothed.
"Stop it!" She screamed.
I froze, keeping my body still.
"Don't try to make me feel better. I don't care that your a vampire. I shouldn't have acted like that. You probably think I'm crazy."
I tilted my face to make her look at me.
"Emily, listen to me. You have nothing to fear. I don't think that your crazy. I think your intelligent and beautiful. I know what I am is scary to humans but I don't want you to be afraid."
She smiled and relaxed into me. Her arms went around my neck. Her warmth felt amazing.
"Will you stay with me tonight?" She muttered.
I was excited. She wanted me! I didn't want to frighten her so I just smiled and said "Sure."
"How long have you been a vampire?"
"Since the 1900's." I told her.
She looked up at me, shock in her eyes. She touched my face.
"What are you thinking?" I asked her.
She laughed. "How you look like a god. Your whole family does and yet, your so old."
I laughed with her. She trailed her hand on my arm.
"Do you mind?" She asked me.
I shook my head no. She had no idea how amazing it was. Her hand felt like fire. It burned but I loved it.
"How do you not kill people?" she asked.
"I don't want to be what I am. Since I can't change that, I thought I could change my food choices. Although your blood does smell amazing." I said.
She tried not to flinch but failed.
"Don't worry, you'd only be a snack!" I teased.
She smiled slightly then touched my cheek. I made my body completely still. Closing my eyes even. She traced over my nose, my eyes, and then my lips. I parted them for her and she stopped. I opened my eyes and moved quickly once I remembered what I would look like to her. I wanted her blood.
"Look at me." She said.
I turned ready for her to run. Yet she didn't, either out of fear or curiosity she could only stare.
