Chapter 19: Daniel

When I woke up, everything came flooding back to me. Emily was missing. I stood up and called for James and Javis. They weren't there.
I took off running, following Emily's sent. I needed her to be alive. I was weak from the drugs they gave me but, I needed to be with her.
They didn't even try to mask her sent and they lived in a small house down in California. I got there in an hour and stood outside. I went in through a window and felt myself begin to feel Emily. She was down stairs.
"You came." I heard a voice say.
"She tastes amazing by the way but she is even better in bed."
I ran towards him and smashed his head into a wall. I turned his neck sideways and bit into him. How dare he talk like that! I snapped his neck and turned around. Another vampire walked in and bit me. I pushed him, snapped his neck and ran downstairs. I was weak, and I knew I would need blood even more so now because I had been bit but I had to keep moving. When I got downstairs there was Emily, chained to a slab I wood and a girl standing next to her. I growled at the girl and she began to cry. She was a human.
"Please, don't hurt me." She begged.
I decided I had more problems than this other small human. I broke the chains and picked up Emily. She was covered in blood sweat. I looked at the girl.
"Find me something quick to cover her up."
The girl ran into a small room and pulled out a dress. I slipped it onto her and pulled her to me.
Her eyes opened.
"Daniel!" She cried.
He arms wrapped around me and I smiled.
"Come on Em. We need to go." I grabbed her hand and we began to walk.
"Wait, we can't leave Joy." She said.
Who the hell was Joy? Why did she have to be so damn nice to people?
"Who's that?" I asked.
"It was that girl. You didn't hurt her did you?" She stated.
"Joy, my mate wants you to come with us."
The girl ran up the stairs and looked at us.
"Thank you miss." the girl named Joy said.
We continued up the stairs and into the living room. We entered the woods when I felt myself fall to the ground. Emily screamed and came towards me. I had gone without blood too long. Someone sat on my chest. Then, the warm sweet liquid pooled into my mouth. Blood! Where was it coming from? I felt my strength returning and opened my eyes. Emily, was sitting on top of me with her wrist in my mouth! Her blood was what I was drinking. I quickly pulled my fangs from her wrist.
"What the hell Emily? Do you want me to kill you?" I shouted. I put her on my back and the young girl I grabbed her hand and took off running. When we got home, I left Emily in the house and ran back to the woods. How could I allow myself to drink from her? Yes, her blood was amazing but she was my mate! I was suppose to keep her safe not kill her. I had tasted her and she had liked it. I had also been able to stop. Would that mean that I could drink her blood and she could still live? I could change her then, without Javis needing too. I felt so stupid. Of course I couldn't drink her blood.
"Son?" Javis asked.
"Dad I did something stupid." I said.
I told him about the dinner, the kiddnspping, the way that Emily heard me kill and then, I drank her blood.
"I could have killed her!" I yelled.
"Son, she saved your life. You know that. Yes, her human blood touched your lips but you had the will to stop."
I nodded.
"Who is the girl in there?" He asked.
"Her name is Joy. Emily wanted to bring her with."
"I think you should go talk to Emily. What do you think?"
I knew he was right so I stood up and made my way towards her.
