I looked at Aaron for a few minutes before I finally decided to take his hand. I chugged the rest of my drink then slid my hand into his as I stood up. Aaron lightly dragged me down to the dance floor where we started to dance along with everyone else. However, that didn't last for long as King took to the stage with the microphone as the DJ cut the music.
"Hello everyone and welcome! I just wanted to come up here and say a few words to everyone. First of all, thank you all for coming out and helping me celebrate my boyfriend and his good news. For those of you that don't know, Ricky got accepted into one of the top Ivy league colleges in the world. But that isn't all tonight is about. In fact, I actually have one more surprise for him tonight. So, Ricky, if you could join me up here, please."
We all watched as Ricky made his way to the stage and stood next to King. King turned to face Ricky as he took Ricky's left hand with his right hand. King waited for the room to become quiet enough before going ahead and speaking.
"Ricky, you and I have known each other since we were in 7th grade. We started off as friends and soon became lovers when we got to sophomore year. Life for me hasn't always been good but better than what it could have been. Either way, my life became a thousand times better when you walked into it. I can't imagine life without you and I don't want to nor do I want to live a life without you in it. You have stood beside me through all the good and bad we've been through and that I have been through and I'm hoping you can keep being there for me and hope I can keep being there for me."
King paused as he took a blue ring box out of his back pocket and got down on one knee before finishing up. Ricky, on the other hand, was on the verge of tears as he watched what King was doing.
"Ricky, will you continue to be in my life as not only my lover but also as my husband? Will you marry me?"
"Yes!"
The room became filled with claps and cheers as King put the ring on Ricky's finger and the two kissed and hugged. Once the two finished on the stage they walked over to where Aaron and I were standing at the bar.
"Thank you for this Winter."
"You're welcome, King, and congratulations on the engagement!"
"Thank you!"
The couple left after a few minutes of us talking. The party went on for a few more hours before things started to die down and people left. The crowd slowly got smaller to the point that it was just Aaron, King, Ricky, Roya, and I. King and Ricky were gathering their things to leave while Aaron and Roya were talking at the bar, and I was just cleaning up some things.
"Hey Winter, we're going to head out. I have to drop him off at home and then get home myself.
"Oh, ok! be safe and text me once y'all home so I know you are safe."
"Thank you again for this."
"You're welcome! I mean it really wasn't much trouble King. I'm happy for you both and would love to help you both. "
They both smiled at me as I finished talking. I gave them both a hug before they left the club. I grabbed the last of the glasses out of the VIP section and headed to the bar to get ready to clean them. Aaron and Roya were still sitting there talking while I started cleaning the glasses and countertop.
"Do you want some help babes?"
"Nah I'm good. Thanks though."
"You sure? This club isn't small and it's a lot to clean."
"Roya, I'm fine. You two should get going though. It's getting late outside."
"Yeah, my mom's expecting me home in another hour and it's going to take just that long to get back home, I love you and will text you."
