I woke up 2 hours ago so that I could do some final packing before I headed up to the school so that we could take our trip out of town. Ever since I woke up I've tried to get in touch with Derrick but no answer. I gave up and just finished packing.

I double checked to make sure I had everything that I needed as I grabbed my bags and car keys and headed out to my car. As I popped the truck and started putting my bags into it a call pulled up into the driveway behind me. I turned around as I heard it come to a stop to see that it was Aaron's car. Through the front windshield I could see that he was alone. I turned back around as he turned off the car and started getting out of it.

"Winter." He called my name to which he got no response from me in return. I just continued to put my things in the trunk.

"Winter ... Can we talk please?" I sighed as I finally turned around to look at him but not before closing the trunk.

"I talked to Iris, she told me about what happened between the two of you at the mall today." He said without looking at me.

"You mean the fact that she told me to basically stay away from you?"

"Yeah." He still wasn't looking at me. In Fact he actually ended up looking down at the ground.

I scoffed as I turned to start walking towards the driver's side of my car but stopped in my tracks and looked at him.

"Look Aaron, I'm not gonna get in between you and your girl. I already told her that I'll keep my distance. She had a point when she told me to do that and she was right. Things between us will never work. You need someone who can love you the way you deserve and I can't do that. Now, can you please move your car? I need to leave."

"Wait. There's more."

"What?"

"She knows that I'm here talking to you. I-I... I um told her that she can't do that to you because-"

"Damnit Aaron! What about this can't you understand?!" I started shouting as I walked up to him.

"I love you but this us that you keep dreaming about won't happen. It can't. Go to your girl and love her the way you want to love me. Show her the same love and respect you show me everyday."

"B-but what about us? What about our friendship? You're my best friend before anything else and I can't lose you." Aaron was getting tears in his eyes the more he spoke. His voice even breaks.

I closed my eyes not wanting to see him hurting like this.

"A-Aaron, there is no more us. I'm sorry but things have gotten way too complicated at this point. It's time that we let go of the thing we've been holding on to for the longest. The thing that is keeping us from moving on."

"I-I can't do that Winter."

"And why not? You have a woman that loves you and wants to be with you so much that she is trying to protect you from me which in all honesty should've happened a long time ago."

"But I don't love her! I love you!"

I looked at Aaron in disbelief as the words left his mouth. What will it take to get through to him? He needs to stop this.

"Aaron, leave. Go to your girl please for the love of all things. I need to get going and you're stopping me from doing what I need to, so please just leave me alone."

"Fine, but just know I will keep fighting for you."

With that I watched as he got in his car as he started it up and pulled off. Watching until the car was no longer in sight, I sighed as I felt the pain in my own heart worsen. However, I shook it off and just got in my car, starting it up and heading up to the school.
