I stared at this unpleasant sheet of paper on my desk that read, "Future Academic and Career Plans."

The sight of it disgusts me. How are they making us do this at the beginning of the year? What if I don't even want to continue?

I used to dream big with this sheet of paper, but now? It's getting serious. The school won't take my bull any longer. Not this year. I have to think and take this more critically.

Rin asked us at the perfect damn time. It's all I thought about and the more I thought about it, I felt like my brain was about to explode.

"Ms. A, could you ask the head of the school if I could go around each classroom to show a video to bring in new recruits to the swim team?" I asked after we finished our teacher-student conference about our future plans after high school.

That's right. This is the only thing I can do right now, for the team.

"I'll ask, I can't make any promises, though!" Ms. A said.

"Thanks," I smiled before walking out of the conference room.

After school, we met at the ITSC - Iwatobi Swim Club - and we practiced. Before we went into the water my phone vibrated.

"...Rin?" I whispered. That's weird. He should be in practice.

Rin:
An old friend of mine
transferred schools!
He joined our swim team!

Me:
No way! How fun!
Can't wait to meet him!

He seems happy, excited for the most part.

"Y/n!" Ms. A called me out.

"Yes?"

"You've got permission as long as the video is under two minutes," Ms. A said.

"Really? You talked to the head of the school that fast?!" I asked, my eyes widened at how fast Ms. A asked quickly. She's a woman who likes to get stuff done, for sure.

I aspire to be like her.

"What video?" Gō asked.

"Just a little something I put together, you don't need to worry yourself," I smiled.

"After we win nationals, we'll be so famous everyone will be falling all over themselves to join!" Nagisa started a conversation, "You know what? I think Y/N, Haru, and Makoto should both work here after they graduate!"

"WOAH WOAHHH!" Coach shouted, "I didn't rebuild this place to get freeloaders a meal ticket!"

Makoto and I chuckled, "Don't take him too seriously, coach. He's just talking out of his butt," I said.

"What's with this?" Rei asked, looking at a poster.

"Ah! I had a print shop cook up a dozen or so of these for the ITSC Grand Opening! Make yourself useful and distribute them!" Coach held up a poster as we analyzed the paper.

"Sprashu Fes?" Makoto questioned the name of the event.

"What is that supposed to say?" Rei asked.

"Is it like a culture festival or something?" Gō asked.

"Mmhmmmph! Oh, there'll be lots of fun stuff going on around here, you'll see!" Coach answered.

"Give us details, coach!" Nagisa said.

"Well, to kick things off, a kickboard race for kids who can't swim! Followed by a contest to see who can hold their breaths underwater the longest. Then, samurai squid style swimming!" Coach explained.
