We walked through the outskirts of the school near the baseball field, "Haruka, Makoto, Y/n!" Our peers with the same appearance - buzzcut, baseball uniform - mid-thickness of eyebrows. The only difference was their eye shape - shouted as they took a break from their baseball practice.

One holding a water bottle, the other leaning on the fence, "Can't believe you guys really did it!" The first boy holding the blue water bottle said.

"Just make sure you win at Nationals, too!" The second boy leaning on the fence added after the first boy.

"We're gonna give it our best shot," Makoto responded with a kind smile.

"I don't get why everyone is so obsessed with winning and losing," Haru complained.

"Aw, come on Haruka! You should at least try to win, don't you think? Isn't that the whole point of sports?" The second kid brought out his arm with his palms up, trying to explain that the point of sport is winning.

Is it really, though?

"Maybe if we cared about winning less we'd win more, too," the first kid said.

I didn't like their tone. It felt...like they were mocking Haru. It rubbed me the wrong way. I bit at the dudes, "Maybe you should. We've won more tournaments this month alone compared to the varsity baseball team the past two years," I smiled.

That's right. Implying their losses are because of them, we've only been in high school for two years. Hope they wake up and get off their high horse with that piece of information.

Haru began to walk away in the midst of my response, so I followed. Leaving them with nothing but embarrassment.
My boys probably wouldn't say anything but I would and I do. I have zero tolerance for backhanded compliments, no matter who it comes from.
Or, maybe I'm just in a bad mood from always arguing with Rin.

"You came today!" Gō pointed out.

"Yeah," I said under my breath.

"Can I ask you something?" Gō asked, after a minute of comfortable silence as we sat on the chairs next to the pool.

"Sure," I lifted the corners of my mouth, gently - barely - smiling.

"Are you and Rin okay?" Gō asked.

I crossed my arms and sighed, "...Yeah, we're fine."

"Do you want to grab some dinner before we go home?" Sousuke asked as we got off the train station from leaving the specialist for his shoulder.

"It's getting a little dark..." I pointed out.

"No worries, I can walk you home!" Sousuke offered.

"And if something happens to you on your way home?! You're wearing a shoulder brace, idiot!" I shouted.

"I'll be fine! I'm not as weak as I look with this thing. Ya can't even see it!" Sousuke smiled.

"Yeah, alright. Let's go. I wanna go to this place where the pasta is fantastic!" I smiled.

"You like pasta?" Sousuke asked.

"Just recently started liking it, so I've been craving it more often," I smiled, big - showing my teeth - my eyes became almost non-existent.

We walked over to the place, it was a big restaurant, but not many people were inside. There were couples and little families scattered throughout the dining area, not close to one another.
