MEREDITH SHEPHERD

I was laying in bed, in Derek's arms when I started to feel the bed dip low a bit. I start to feel someone's little feet on my leg before feeling jumping up and down. I open my eyes to see both the kids jumping on the bed.

"kids, go back to sleep" I groan pushing my head back into Derek's chest. "we're hungry!" they squeal jumping up and down and then jumping on top of me. "ow! Grey" I say when he kicks me in the hip. "sorry, mama" he apologizes kissing my hip.

"Why don't you go downstairs and wait for me and daddy to make breakfast," I say. Greyson climbs out of bed.

"ow!  Fiona!" Derek groans when she jumps on him.

"Fiona, go downstairs with your brother," I say, she rolls her eyes and gets out of bed, and follows Greyson out of the room. "why do they always have to wake us up in the morning" he groans pushing his head into my breasts.

" because they're kids, it's what they do" I yawn. "how are you going to do it with three?" he says while rubbing his hand over the swollen bump of my abdomen. I'm four months pregnant with our third child, and we're going to find out the gender in a week. "maybe he'll be easier than Fiona, she's a hard one," I say rolling onto my side.

"I'll go make breakfast" he says in a raspy voice. he kissed my neck before getting out of bed.

after a few minutes, I couldn't fall asleep. I got out of bed. I went into the bathroom and started the shower. when the shower was ready I undressed and got into the hot water. after showering I dried my hair and body off with a white fluffy towel. I blow-dried my hair before going back into the bedroom.

I got dressed in a simple dark blue dress and black socks. It had short sleeves. I shivered at the cold as goosebumps gill my arms. I rubbed my hands over my forearms before going over to the mirror. I tied my hair back and went downstairs.

I walked into the kitchen. I saw Derek standing at the stove while Greyson and Fiona sitting at the kitchen table. "morning mama," Greyson said as I kissed his forehead. "how do you feel, Fiona?" I ask kissing her on the top of the head. yesterday the kids were playing outside and Fiona ran around in the cold a little too much, she ended up feeling sick at bedtime.

"My tummy still hurts. Daddy had to make special pancakes so it doesn't make my tummy worse" she frowned. "you'll be okay, we'll give you some medicine when you finished eating" I kiss her head once more.

she nods her head as I walk over to Derek. "how are you feeling?" he whispers in my ear, wrapping his arm around my waist, pulling me into his side. "I still feel a little sick, do you think the baby will be okay?" I ask, laying my head down on his shoulder. "yes, I'll little boy is very strong. he'll be just fine" he says kissing the side of my head.

"Does your throat still hurt?" he asks. I nod. he places the spatula down on the counter, he turns towards me and presses his lips against my forehead, letting the kiss linger for a few seconds. "you're still very warm, but that could also be the pregnancy" he says before going over to the table and placing more pancakes in the kid's plates.

"you want to go see the OB?" he asks. "No, we have an appointment in a week when I find out the gender" I say before leaning against the counter. "if you think it could affect the baby's health then maybe we should see the OB," he says looking at me.

"it's not that bad, it's nothing big. the baby should be fine" I say placing my hand on my forehead. "your head still hurting?" he asks. "yeah, I would take something but it's not good for the baby" I say grabbing a glass from the cabinet.

"Are you cold?" he asks looking at my arms. "yes, it's freezing in our bedroom, that's why I got extra blankets last night" I say, filling the glass with ice water and taking a sip from the glass. "I'll work on that," he says kissing my cheek and going over to the table. he patted the seat next to him.

I walked over to him and sat down next to him. "mommy, when is the baby going to be born?" Fiona asks. "in four months and two weeks" I answer and Derek puts a fork to my mouth with a piece of pancake on it. I cringe and move my head away.

"I hope the baby's a boy, I don't want a little sister," Fiona says looking into her plate. "Meredith, are you sure Fiona's Derek's?" Nancy asks as she walks into the kitchen. "Nancy, get out," Derek says rolling his eyes. "I mean looking at her," she says pointing at Fiona. "hey! I'm prettier than you. keep your mouth shut until you know how to use makeup, you would think after all these years you would have learned by now" Fiona says to Nancy who only gives her a disgusted look and Fiona glares back at her.

"who taught her to speak with such an attitude?" Nancy asks looking at me. "where do you think? her mother" I say. "you shouldn't teach her that" she tells me. "I didn't, she's a natural," I say, taking the fork from Derek's hand and putting it In my mouth.

"Derek, take a look a Fiona, what do you see?" she says standing next to Derek. he looks at Fiona for a few seconds. "I see Fiona" he answers. "do you see you in her?... or do you see Owen hunt in her?" she asks. I laugh. "you think I slept with Owen hunt?" I laugh. "she looks like him," she says. "why? because she's a redhead?" I say. "yes, there are no redheads in our family and there has never been a redhead in the shepherd family three. ever." she says. "and what about my family?" I say. "Are there any redheads in your family" "yes, my grandfather was a redhead and so is my mother, naturally" I said.

"I would never sleep with my best friend's husband" I roll my eyes.
