Lavina climbed the stairs with a big smile on her face. She was so happy and proud to be where she was.
"First day of high school." She said. Lavina had gotten into a prestige school in the area. Her grades were more than excellent and her attitude even greater. She had to wear a uniform, which she did not mind at all, but she did have to order a school backpack. She walked into the main entrance early as she always did. She took a fresh breath of air and then found her way to her first class. She was nearly right on time. Only a minute or two early. She was actually kind of nervous though, today was her first day in a Marked school. She had gone to elementary and junior high up on the surface, but was excited to have an invitation to apply at one of the best private schools in the Market. Her and Oglm had talked about it in eighth grade and agreed that she would finish her four years at a Marked academy as they were called. Her first period was actually a language class. They were teaching English and Catonin. After that class she had history. When she walked into the class there was a word on the board, it was Hzgokd. That was one of the words she hadn't seen in quite a while. Her and Oglm didn't quite talk about her mother, particularly because she wasn't there. Lavina wasn't sure if the professor knew who she was or not, but had a feeling she would get no special treatment either way. The professor was actually a very nice female elf. She dived into the lesson right away. Most of it had the word Nsefen involved, that was her mother's translated name. Lavina stopped a second and thought about her own name. Oglm had said it before but never called her by it. What was it again? Here, let me tell you, her first name is Fntedn (Fin-ta-den). Lavina didn't have her mother's last name either, or her father's for that matter. She had taken Oglm's last name, Ozedk. So together that makes her Fntedn Ozedk. Which she would probably be called by from now on.
"Alrighty, let us begin!" The teacher said, tapping her wand on the board. "I know this is probably childish, but how about we go around the room and introduce ourselves." She pointed to the first student and they began,
"Seywek Okkvmekb," Then the next.
"Ocrk Xedbfk,"
"Ndyzgdr Sehcnfndjkfs,"
"Agozln Agokqz,"
"Tehygm Sndbr,"
"Seyn Oyktkdogd,"
"Orften Ilmdo,"
"Ocr Ykfbgd,"
"Ansko Anhcnf,"
"Ksefr Fewkmnbg,"
"Znddnz Seffkm,"
"Cgdkm Seffkm,"
"Lavina Ozedk," The teacher looked up to her.
"I know you are used to English, Miss. Ozedk, but please, at least use your Marked name in my classroom."
"Oh, sorry, my bad. My name's Fntedn Ozedk." The teacher shook her head and then pointed to the last student.
"Anghi Anhcod." There were only fourteen of them in the class. It was a very high excellence school that only the very select could get into. Lavina was an easy pick for them though, she could still remember her interview with the principal. She had all A's across the board and did volunteer work, while still doing extracurricular activities. The principal was quite impressed, she was already in advanced classes and doing well. The only comment she had was that she didn't want to take too many advanced classes, so that she had time for herself before the next few years where she would get a job and start to save for college. But of course, the teacher started her lecture.
"Today we will dive into our history lesson." She started writing on the chalkboard. "This is a specified course you all chose to take, so I suggest you try your best and not blow this course off. You will not get grade point credit for failing grades. Now, my name is Miss. Telamar." She paused and turned around. "Welcome to the Chosen Era history course."
