"Good morning, sweetheart." Lavina opened her eyes and then grabbed her mother up in a hug.
"Good morning."
"Alright, alright, you're going to smother me in this hug!" Amilia patted Lavina on the back. "Come on, get ready." Lavina let her go and Amilia smiled as she closed the door. Lavina jumped out of bed with a smile on her face. She went into her closet and grabbed her skirt and then slipped into her buttoned dress shirt. Finally putting the finishing touches on, she pinned a crest to her sweater vest. She put on her high socks and grabbed her school jacket. She ran down the stairs and automatically put on her school shoes. "Lavina, honey, aren't you going to eat?" Lavina peaked down to her phone.
"Yeah, sorry I didn't watch my time." She set her backpack down by the chair and smiled at her mother.
"Here you are, my dear." Amilia sat down across from her.
"Pancakes." Lavina said. "Mm."
"Sh." Amilia said, putting her finger to her lips. "Don't let Oglm hear you..."
"You know how he is about his pancakes." They finished together. They laughed.
"I heard you two talking about me." He walked over to the stove. "Oh, pancakes." Oglm turned around. "How are they?"
"Terrible."
"Oh, Lavina, that's your mother." Lavina chewed on her food slowly. No then looked to her mother.
"They are mildly good."
Oglm laughed. He sat down himself with a plate of her pancakes and ate himself. "Isn't this nice?" He started. "All of us finally sitting down and having a meal together?" Amilia and Lavina nodded their heads in agreement. Amilia got up and took her plate to the sink and then leaned on the back of Lavina's chair.
"You better get going there, little missy, don't wanna be late for school." Amilia put her hand onto Lavina's head and smiled.
"Yeah, you're right." She grabbed her backpack, ran out of the kitchen and then came back in. She grabbed her plate and put it into the sink and ran out of the kitchen once again. She opened the sliding glass door and ran through the forest, then she ran through the Market. She reached the school and walked in through the doors. She went to her locker and then stopped.
"Why the heck did I run here? I still have like ten minutes."
"Lavina!" Anghi said, waving down the hall. She waved back to him and then someone came up next to him. He talked to them and then they waved goodbye as they walked off. He waved her over and Lavina walked over to him. "Nice to see you in such high spirits."
"Thanks, you too?"
He laughed. "Always."
"Want to hang out today?"
Lavina sighed. "I'm sorry Anghi, but, you know, I spend the weekend with my grandparents."
"Does Friday count?"
"It depends. They could show up, but it's not a definite."
"Ah."
"But we can hang out for a few minutes after school." Anghi smiled and then they started to walk around.
"What have you been up to?"
"Hm?"
"You've been so busy lately, is your aunt still living with you?"
"Uh, yeah, something like that."
"Is that a good thing?"
"Yeah it is."
"Oh, good!"
"Anyway, what about you? What have you been up to?"
"Who, me?"
"Yeah you."
"Well, I don't like to brag, Lavina."
"It's not bragging, Anghi. Tell me about your week, what did you do?"
Oh, well, I worked at my parents' shop, of course. And um, they took me out to Star Meadows."
"Star Meadows?"
"Oh that's right!" He said. "You haven't been out there have you?"
"No, I've never heard of it."
"Sta Meadows is a place in Moosh. It's the only place in the Underground where you can see the sky."
"See the sky? I thought the whole thing was underground."
"It is." He paused. "Moosh is a place of science. They made this thing that shows you the sky. But it's so big that it feels like you're actually under the sky."
"Does it act like the sky? With a setting sun and everything?"
"Yeah, you see my parents took me up there because of that good grade we got on our project. I got to see the stars and the moon. It was so exciting! It's so rare that I get to see the sky."
"Don't worry, you'll get to see it more often now that we are friends. You're welcome to come over anytime, just ask!"
"Oh, well, thank you Lavina!" Just then the warning bell rang and they parted ways. Lavina made her way to her language class and sat down at her desk. She took out her journal and books and waited for class to begin.
