Lavina came through the back door and threw her backpack down. Oglm came into the living room with a smirk on his face. Lavina looked at him confused.
"What?"
"Your aunt is here."
"Oh don't be so harsh, Oglm." Elsie said walking in.
"Where's Skye?"
"She's grabbing the bags from the car."
"Ah."
"Lavina!" A girl said racing past Elsie. "Good to see you again." She said, hugging her.
"Cousin Lena." She whispered to herself. "I just saw you like four months ago. How was, uh, Virginia?"
"Oh it was fun, me and my moms had a good time."
"Where's my niece!" They heard from the kitchen. Another woman walked in and held out her arms. "Come give your aunty a hug Miss. Lavina." Lavina blushed and then smirked, but walked over and gave her a hug.
"Hello aunt Skye."
"No hug for me little missy?" Elsie said, bending down to her height.
Lavina laughed, "Of course, aunt Elsie." Lavina gave her a hug as well.
"So where are you all off to?"
"Oh nowhere special. We were going to head over to Ohio before Lena goes back to school next week." Oglm picked up their bags.
"How long are you three planning on staying?"
"Oh just a few days." Elsie and her family visited Oglm and Lavina every time Lena had a school break. Usually what they will do is visit with them first and then continue on down. A few years ago they stopped by and continued on to Florida. You see, Elsie still lived in New York, but not quite in Iseult.
"I'll take these up to your rooms." Oglm took the two briefcase-like suitcases and then one rollable up the stairs.
"So how's your new school?" Elsie asked, sitting down on the couch.
"It's nice."
"Is that where you just came from?"
"Yeah." She paused. "You mind if I get changed?"
"No, no, not at all."
"Cool, thanks." Lavina ran up the stairs and went to her room. She grabbed some bottoms and a shirt, along with her classic black jacket. She came back down the stairs and went into the living room. "I can't believe this!" Lavina said, looking at Oglm. "It's not even three o'clock and you're already handing out snacks! Can I have one?"
"No, it'll spoil your dinner." He said with a smirk on his face.
"I'm a taking one anyway." She grabbed one from him and sat down next to her aunts on the couch.
"So what do we all feel like for dinner?" They all looked at each other.
"I don't know." Elsie said, shaking her head.
"I do." Lena said after her. "Would it be too much trouble to ask for your famous goulash?"
"Not at all, if that's what we all want." They all nodded. Oglm left and went into the kitchen.
"Lena, honey, go up to your room and get yourself all set up."
"Ok, mom." Lena headed up the stairs.
"I'm going to go set up the room, care to join me sweetheart?"
"No, I think I'll stay here."
"Alright." Skye kissed her on the cheek and then headed up the stairs herself.
"So your grandfather tells me you're taking a chosen one history class."
"Oh not you too."
She laughed, "So everyone's bothering you, huh?"
"Like you wouldn't believe, but I'm ok, I swear."
"Well of course, you're the amazing and wonderfully talented Lavina Ozedk. Nothing stops her." She paused. "I know how your mind works."
"And what, you're going to tell me about my mom too? All her perfect and imperfections?"
"No." She paused again and looked at her. "I am here to talk, if you need it. And well, although I don't like to talk about my brother, you can always ask about your father." Lavina looked at her and nodded.
"I think I know enough about him. On how he left and how he never called, even though he has the number. Or how he never bothered to get in touch, not even through a letter."
"You and me both."
"He hasn't talked to you in sixteen years?"
"No, I suppose he has, but I haven't talked to him. I didn't believe in what he did. You're right, he could have stayed here with you until he was ready to handle himself. And he could have called, I mean nothings changed. But if that is what he feels is necessary, then that's what will happen." Elsie put her hand onto Lavina's.
"He didn't just leave me did he? Did he really think about it?"
"I don't exactly know. He just picked up and left. I'd be lucky even to have his recent phone number and address." Lavina looked down to the ground.
"I'm sorry."
"For what dear?"
"I ruined the relationship between you and your brother that you had."
"What?"
"If I hadn't been born, none of this would have happened."
"No, no, don't ever think that. You are a joy and a blessing. Your mother loved you so much. If she hadn't passed, you would have a mom and a dad, you would have siblings, most likely, and you probably wouldn't live in Iseult."
"Don't tell me you're blaming my mom."
"No, of course not. She was always a person who did what needed to be done." She paused, "One way or another." Elsie put her arm around her. "Do you know that your mother had a thing for your uncle?"
"What? Leo?"
"Mhm."
"No way."
"She did. She didn't date your father until she was your age."
Lavina laughed, "Not a bachelor like my uncle."
"Hey." Elsie nugged her. "I dated that bachelor, and I wouldn't call him that."
"Why did you two break up?"
"That doesn't matter." Lavina gave her a look.
"Oh really." Elsie rolled her eyes.
"Yes, I don't want you to see him any different than you do now."
"Oh come on. It has to be a juicy story."
"Let's just say we didn't agree on some things." Lavina pouted and then crossed her arms. "Come on." Elsie said, trying to change her mind. "Let's go see what daddy Oglm is up to, hm? We can't let him make dinner all by himself now can we? He must be supervised."
Lavina laughed, "Alright fine, but you gotta tell me one of these days!" Lavina ran off to the kitchen and Elsie laughed.
