Amilia stood on the porch as she looked at the oak door. Lavina stood next to her, watching her every move.
Amilia took a deep breath, "You ready?"
"No."
Amilia laughed quietly. Then she rang the doorbell. They heard laughing and then the door opened.
"Oh, yes, yes, honey I'll be right there! I'm sorr- Amilia Cripple."
"Uh, hi." She started. "I think you adopted my son."
"Jnimekf, come here, honey! Not you Anghi, you stay inside."
"What is it, dear?" She motioned to Amilia with her eyes.
"Oh, oh, dear." He stepped outside and Kffek closed the door behind her.
"I'm sorry to do this, here."
"We, we thought you were dead, weren't you?"
"I- I was, but due to events, I am not. I, I've only been alive for the past few weeks, and you see, I've been trying to find my son. Well, it led me here, to you two."
"Well yes, we adopted him. They told us he had an English name, Jacob Huff. We kept the Jacob, but just translated it. And you must be Lavina." She said pointing. "Anghi has told us quite the stories."
"He talked about me?" She blushed. Then she borrowed her head into her chest.
"Does he-"
"Not specifically. He knows he's adopted and we've told him he's the son of someone important, but we've never actually told him it was you."
"Oh."
"No, no. He's always fathomed that one day his birth parents might come looking for him. It'll be exciting, he'll enjoy it!"
"I, I don't want to ruin things. I just want to see that he's happy and well cared for."
"I'd like to think we've given him a great home, but it's not our decision to make. You should at least introduce yourself to him and tell him you're his mother, heck well even do it for you. Then he can decide what he wants to do with it."
"And what if he wants to live with me?"
"Then he lives with you. He's old enough, not like he's a toddler, I mean, he started high school this year." She opened the door. "Come on in." The man nodded his head.
"Yes, please."
Amilia took a deep breath and then walked in, Lavina following close behind.
"Wow, so nice." Lavina said, looking around.
"Why thank you, Lavina."
"Sit down here, Mrs. Cripple."
"Thank you, but it's actually Ms. Cripple."
"Of course, Ms. Cripple. And Lavina you can sit next to her if you wish."
"Oh thank you Mr. Anhcod." Lavina sat down next to her mother and leaned on her a bit. Kffek brought Anghi into the living room.
"So what was it you wanted to talk- holy smokes, Amilia Cripple."
"Uh, hi." She said, waving.
"Sit down Anghi, we, we have been meaning to tell you something." He walked over to the recliner and sat down.
"You remember how we told you your mother was someone important?"
"Yeah."
"Yeah. Your mother is, well, uh, Amilia Cripple."
Anghi laughed, "Oh I thought you said- AMILIA CRIPPLE!!!" He looked at them in shock. Jnimekf handed Anghi his birth certificate and adoption papers. "I, there's, huh?" He looked up at Amilia and just, well, looked at her. "You're my mom, my biological mom."
"Yeah, yeah I am. And, and and, I know it's weird, believe me. I just had to find my son, you know? I see that you're well taken care of and are happy, despite this little rough patch in the road. And I can understand if you don't want to see me again, it's a shocker! Not saying that we can't see each other, I mean, you can live with us if you want."
"U, us?" He looked to Lavina and blushed. "I- I don't know, it's all so much."
"I understand. I'll leave you to think it over, I mean you have our number, so you can call, if you want to, you don't have to. Not that I'm saying you can't."
Anghi hesitantly laughed and shook his head. Amilia stood up and looked at him.
"Well, thank you for hosting us, Mr. And Mrs. Anhcod." Jnimekf and Kffek led them out and Lavina rubbed the back of her neck as she looked at Anghi.
"It was nice, seeing you again."
"Y, yeah, you too." Lavina joined her mother outside and they began to walk home. Once they reached the house Amilia plopped down on the sofa and put her hand to her face.
"Was it too much?"
"I, I don't know." Lavina sat next to her.
"I never imagined I'd have to do this. He took it so hard."
"It's ok, he'll come around, you'll see."
"You think so?"
"I know so, we talk all the time at school and hang out whenever we can. I know he'll come around." Amilia looked at Lavina as Lavina looked back at her. This time, Lavina gave her mother a comforting kiss on the forehead.
