Lavina paced around the living room. She fiddled with her phone as she held it in her hands, constantly watching the screen.
"Your mother hasn't called you yet today?"
"No."
"Well, you did just get home from school, come sit down." Lavina rubbed her hands on her thighs. Next she went over to the couch and sat next to Oglm. He snatched her phone and put it in his pocket.
"Hey!"
"Oh no. You're too paranoid. I will give it back when she calls."
"How do you know she will?"
"Because she promised, didn't she?'
"Yeah."
"Your mother never breaks a promise."
"But what about-"
"She never promised to come back. All she said was that she was going on vacation for a few months."
Lavina grunted and then crossed her arms. "Oh, she'll call, Lavina." He put his arm around her and pulled her close. "Say, why don't you invite your classmate over, what was his name? Anghi? He should get you all perked up."
"Huh?!" Her voice cracked.
Oglm laughed.
"We're just friends! And nothing more!"
"Yes, but do you like him?"
"I- I,"
"Somebody has a crush!"
"I do not!"
"It's ok to like somebody." Lavina crossed her arms.
"I do not." She whispered. Oglm bent over to her ear.
"Yes you do." He whispered back to her.
"Ugh!" She shoved him over to his side.
Oglm laughed. Lavina got up and ran up the stairs. "You can't escape it, love comes for us all!" Lavina went into her room and then shut the door. She went to her bed and threw herself onto it, she screamed into her pillow. Then she plopped over to her back and reached her hand into her pocket. "I can't even call him, he has my phone!" She stomped her feet onto the floor, standing up. She went down the stairs and went into the living room, giving Oglm a desasterly look. Oglm already had her phone in his hand, the one closest to her. She grabbed it aggressively from his hand. Oglm smiled at her while still looking at the screen.
"Shut up!" She screamed going back up the stairs. "I can hear you snickering!" Lavina stopped at her door and then turned. She went to her mothers room and sat down on her bed. She moved her hands back and forth on it. She still couldn't believe that she was back. Lavina turned her gaze to the nightstand beside the bed. There was a picture on it. She grabbed it and moved her finger on her mothers head. It was a picture of all three of them. Her, her mother and her father. "To think," she started, "That we all might be back together again. Living as a family." She paused. "To get to know both of my parents." She laid down on her back once again and looked to the ceiling. Within days her life had suddenly turned, her mom was back in the picture and now her dad might be as well. She felt strange as she realized that this was all so real. She might have both a mom and a dad. "I wonder if I do have his phone number." Lavina got up and went into her room. She looked through her things, sifting through them to find what she was looking for. It was hard though, since she didn't know what exactly she was looking for. But then something caught her eyes in one of her books. On the back of her picture she found a phone number with a -j on it. She grabbed a phone, but never dialed. She was too afraid of what might happen, not to mention, what to say. She put the phone down and looked back at the number. She sighed and then put the picture back in its place. Just then her phone rang.
"Mom!"
"Hey there sweetie, how was school today?"
"It was good."
"That's good."
"What are you up to?"
"Oh I'm just out and about, visiting some old sights."
"Oh really?"
"Yeah, well, I caught up with Becka and Elsie, they gave me some tips and tricks, though they weren't much help. And what's with Elsie's hair and style?"
"Her what?"
"Yeah, she wears jogging pants and a tee-shirt. Plus her hair is in a braid."
"Oh, right! You saw Elsie, did you meet Lena?"
"Lena?"
"Skye and Elsie's daughter."
"Hm, I must have missed her. I mean, I didn't stay but a few hours, I guess she must have been at school, yes? Is she young?"
"Uh, well, she's seventeen actually."
Amilia laughed, "No wonder I didn't see her, I remember high school at that age."
Lavina laughed, "That bad huh?"
Amilia laughed back. "It was something, that's for sure."
"And as far as aunt Elsie,"
"Aw! You call her aunt?"
"Uh, yeah?"
"How nice."
"Anyway, she's always looked that way."
"Really?"
"Yeah."
"Goodness, well when I last saw her she still had her spunk."
"Her spunk?"
"Yeah, she wore makeup and had a purple streak through her hair. She wore a crop tank top, bracelets and black leggings."
"What!? Really?"
"Yeah, she was always like that. When we were in high school she dyed her hair black and wore a tank top vest. Oh and blush too!"
"Wow, that's crazy."
"I guess so." She paused, "Well, I should be getting to bed here, I have an early flight to get to tomorrow."
"So you're coming back?"
"Yes, and make sure you remind Oglm to pick me up tomorrow morning. We should be back before you head off to school."
"I can't wait to see you again!"
"Me too, Lavina. I look forward to waking you up for school tomorrow."
Lavina laughed. "Yeah, I should work on that."
"You don't need to change anything. Well, I'll see you tomorrow, alright, honey?"
"Yeah."
"Goodnight Lavina."
"Goodnight."
"Bye!"
"Bye.
