Lavina came down the stairs in her pajamas. She yawned and rubbed her eyes, but quickly stopped as she heard her mom talking to someone. Lavina could hear only her mother, which meant she was on the phone. But the conversation was short, Amilia said but a few sentences and then finished her goodbye's and hung up the phone. Lavina shrugged her shoulders, too fresh to care. She finished her way down the stairs and then walked into the kitchen.
"Good morning mom." She yawned.
"Good morning, sleepy head. How are you?" Amilia pulled out a chair.
"Tired, I suppose." Lavina sat down and put her head on the table.
"My goodness, how late did you stay up?"
"Oh not too late, maybe ten ten thirty?"
"Oh, I see." A few minutes later Amilia put a plate down in front of Lavina.
"What's this?"
"Egg salad and buttered toast."
"Mm, looks good." Lavina grabbed the fork and started to eat. Anghi soon after joined them in the kitchen.
"You're tired too?" Amilia said, looking at him.
"Yeah, who can sleep with Ophelia nowadays."
Amilia laughed, "I know, I'm working on it. Speaking of Ophelia, is she awake yet?"
"Not that I know of."
"Mm, so, you two have spring break next week, right?"
"This upcoming week, yes." Lavina chimed in.
"Good."
"Good?" Anghi said, looking at her. "Is it? Is it really?"
"Yeah, what are you planning?"
"Oh, well..." Amilia put a plate in front of Anghi. "I don't want to ruin the surprise." They looked at each other and then back to their mother.
"What exactly do you have planned for us, dear mother of ours?"
Amilia chuckled, sitting down herself. "Oh I don't know." She started again. Anghi picked at his food and then looked to Amilia.
"I know you don't like this."
Amilia sighed, "Fine, my darlings, force it out, why don't you." She put her utensils down. Lavina picked up her water and drank it. Amilia took two pieces of paper out of her pocket and gave one to each of them.
"Plane tickets?" Lavina said, looking at her. Amilia nodded her head. "To," She stopped to read. "Arizona?!"
"Mhm. Your father called and I happened to mention you two would be on spring break soon, and he thought it would be a good idea if you two went out for the week and spent some time with him and his family."
"And you're ok with this?"
"Well, although I may not see him the same way as before, I would still like for you two to come to your own conclusion, plus, he is your father." Just then the phone rang. "Speaking of which," Amilia got up and picked up the phone, said a few words and then handed it to Lavina. Lavina looked at her mother and then took the phone and put it up to her ear.
"Hello?" She began.
"Lavina, hello!" She heard over the line.
"Dad?"
"Hi, honey, how are you this morning?"
"Shouldn't I be asking you that? Isn't it like five in the morning there?"
