Lavina paced back and forth, and she waited in the room. Just then Mason walked in.

"What's the plan? How are we getting my mother back?"

"Back?"

"Well, we're not just leaving her with Solar Eclipse, are we?"

"No, of course not. But first, we must get you outside the town."

"Out-outside! I want to help you! She's my mother."

"I know, Lavina, but the safer you are the better our chances. All I have to do is push Amilia out of the barrier and off she goes, Eclipse free."

"But-" Mason took her by the shoulder and started to walk with her. "Trust me, Lavina, this is for the best. With no threat, Solar Eclipse has no leverage over your mother."

"And you really think you can get her away from my mother?"

"I- well, I should be able to, I've free'd her captives before."

"Captives?"

"Yes, she uses these collars and cufflinks of osse to control people."

"What are you talking about?"

"The people in her dungeon." He looked at Lavina and then laughed. "Oh you thought she lives in that Asylum? No, honey, no, her base of operations lays over in the old castle estate."

"Yeah, that's why there's torn up photos in that room you and the city put her in."

"We put her in there to help her, she almost killed the mayor!"

"You know, I'd go crazy if I were wrongly accused too."

"Wrongly, what?"

"Accused. She had a signed paper saying she was sane and released. You can't just pounce on her and throw her away to rot."

"Look, Lavina. She escaped from that mental hospital on several occasions. And she kept doing these weird things. Almost like she was planning something."

"And what exactly was it?"

"I don't know, whatever it was, she never finished it because like you said, I threw her away to rot."

"You didn't feel any guilt? At all? Isn't she your sister, your little sister?"

He sighed, "Of course I do, it was my stuipd machine that caused this." He turned around to her. "If my machine hadn't malfunctioned she never would have had her gene's mutated. I never should have sent her into that portal. But, I was a beginning scientist then, and I was so eager to make my first discovery. And I regret my decision everyday." He laughed. "It was fun when we were teenagers, me and her would go on all sorts of adventures and take on all sorts of problems. Fixing them one at a time. But those days are long gone now, and for whatever reason, her gene's turned gears in her head, to make her evil and cruel."

"She's still in there you know."

"Oh, really?"

"Yeah, don't give up on her so fast, hm?" She hit him on the arm gently. "She told me should wouldn't hurt my mom, because Amilia is still very much a friend in her mind. And she kept telling me that she wasn't evil. That in her mind, she's stopping the crime that she thinks has grown so much."

"That's it." Mason said.

"Huh?"

"She's doing this, all of this, because our parents got hurt."
