It was typical Gotham weather, pouring rain. It soaked people's cars, windows and roofs basically anything it could touch. The raindrops dripped down people's noses and drenched their clothes.
Two people, in particular, were struggling Raven's hood and cloak could only help so much and Damian wasn't much better his dark black hair stuck to his forehead, and his olive-coloured skin dripped with liquid.
Damian's hands fumbled for the keys to his and Raven's shared house within the city. Damian and Raven still patrolled the city streets much to Batman's amusement, as he had caught them losing focus on patrol more than once. More often than not with each other!
Batman just shook his head at the two young heroes as he playfully told them to go home, his lips twisted into a light smirk as he gave Damian a wink, much to his shock, disgust and embarrassment at what Batman was insinuating.
Raven flushed a deep red colour, before floating across the rooftops in the direction of the house she and Damian were living in.
"Father, I am not you please keep your thoughts to yourself! Damian retorted with a sickened expression on his face. His father just laughed like his son had told him the funniest joke known to man.
"Sure son, sure..." Batman trailed off sarcastically as he watched his son shoot him the biggest glares as he dashed off across the rooftops.
Damian was horrified, his father was on something! "What in all the universe would cause him to exhibit such behaviour." Damian thought to himself as caught up to Raven who was a couple of feet ahead of him.
"I apologise for my father Raven, he is possessed" Damian stated in honesty. Raven giggled in response, "well at least now, I know where you got it from!" Raven joked mischievously punching Damian in the arm.
Damian gasped "I would never Beloved!" He exclaimed as if he had been slapped in the face. His tone showed mock outrage at the joke as he grabbed the front door keys from his pocket as they landed at the entrance to their home gracefully.
"Yeah, you would!" Raven said hysterically laughing, clutching her sides from pain. As she waited for the door to open.
Usually, the door would just swing open as soon as the door key was turned, but it seemed this front door didn't want to budge from the spot it was glued to. Raven sat on the doorstep, a droplet of water running down her nose as she shivered from the cold.
She was gripping her cloak so tight that her knuckles were white, she let out a deep exasperated breath as she watched the condensation leave her mouth and float up into the air before disappearing.
"You sure, it was the right key?" Raven asked through her chattering teeth. A demon in the cold was not a good idea.
"There is only one key Beloved..." he paused as he took in Raven's facial expression. Her eyes were glassy as if she was about to pass out, her deep shallow breathing echoed in the air.
"Are you alright Habibi?" Damian asked concern lacing his tone. As he took off his hood and cloak which was part of his Robin suit and placed it around her shoulder and body in an attempt to conserve some warmth.
He tried the key once more but it was ineffective. "allaeayn aljahim" he cursed in Arabic as he used his shoulder to try and force his way in.
Raven nodded, she was tired all she wanted to do was go into her and Damian's shared home. She sighed, she may struggle to do this but, she and Damian needed to get in their home.
Her hands emitted a purple glow of magic and with a chant of her signature incantation "Azarath metiron zinous," the door swung open almost flying off its hinges. It hit the back of the wall with a bang.
Raven's hand stopped glowing, as her knees gave way beneath her. Damian was there to catch her in his arms. Lifting her up bridal style, as she was light as a feather to the ex-assassin.
He carefully stepped over the doorstep, his feet caused the floorboards to creak as he gently placed Raven down on the dark black sofa, brushing a piece of hair from her face.
She was beautiful, her pale ice cold skin started to warm as she snuggled into the couch her legs close to her chest. She looked innocent, angelic like nothing could touch her.
Damian sat down next to her, Raven reacted to her lover's body heat, her head resting on his lap, her skin shined with orange light as the heat from the fire caused her to stir with new energy.
Damian ran his fingers through her violet hair, causing a noise that sounded like a pleasure-able sigh to come from her lips. Damian stared down at her as he reached for the tv remote, it was domestic, pure.
Damian would have never dreamt in his life that he would live such a life. He always pictured his life differently. The league was his life once upon a time, his legacy now he couldn't think of anything worse.
Yes, he still believed that some people deserved to be killed for their crimes, but the league killed innocent people for a thing as simple as a territory or speaking out of turn.
But one thing was for sure he would trade all that for this moment with Raven. In the quiet of their home, Titus's bed sat empty in the corner as he was resting at the foot of the couch.
He was still a young dog, but he always preferred to sit and lay at night after his master and mistress came home from patrol.
There they lay and while they might have been locked out they still had each other and they were soulmates now and forever through all weather. Rain, hail, snow and sun whatever it may have been.
They were locked out with love...
