A loud laugh echoed in the common room, the fire crackled merrily in the grate; Draco and Blaise looked up as two smiling Gryffindors entered the common room. It was around midnight and the two Slytherins were just lounging on the sofa.
As soon as Harry noticed them, the smile died on his face and Neville smiled brightly at Blaise, waving shyly, like he always did in his presence.
"Hey, Neville." Blaise smiled, eyes staring unblinkingly at him.
"Hi, Blaise!" Neville said cheerfully, "You up late?"
"Yeah, couldn't sleep." Harry was standing awkwardly next to Neville, his hands shoved in his trouser pockets. Draco played with the hem of his sweater and avoided eye contact with Harry.
"Oh," Concern flitted over Neville's features, "Is everything okay?"
"It's fine, happens daily." Blaise said, trying to sound strong.
"It's not fine," Neville said somewhat fiercely, "I've helped Harry with his nightmares with some herbs and plants, do you need them too?"
"Yeah, sure. That'd be great." Blaise smiled gratefully, "Show me now?" He added nervously.
"Oh okay." He grinned coyly and soon the two vanished up the stairs to Blaise's dorm room.
Draco blinked a few times and let out a low whistle, "Wow."
"Wow indeed." Harry laughed, "They just left like that."
"I'm just surprised Blaise didn't choke on the spot." He chuckled and shook his head, Harry let out a small laugh as well.
The laughter died down and the awkwardness ensued again, "So you going to sleep now?" Harry tried to start a conversation, his eyes fixed at a point beside Draco's head.
"I can't, the dorm is currently occupied." He winced, "I'll just have to make do with this sofa." Draco patted at the sofa he was settled on.
"You could come to my dorm." Draco stared at him. "I mean there is an extra bed, you know, since Ron left and it gets really lonely and you can join if you want to but it's okay if you don't because you might need your privacy." He finished breathlessly, turning red when he realised that he had been rambling.
"Sorry," He mumbled and looked down at his shoes.
Draco found that quite adorable. Wait. No. Harry Potter isn't adorable. He is a friend. Nothing more, Draco told himself.
Besides, a snarky voice spoke at the back of his mind, you broke his heart, he won't forgive you.
Yeah, but he's letting me share his dorm with him, Draco replied smugly to the voice.
He droned out the voice and smiled at Harry, "It's alright." Draco laughed softly, "And yes, I'd be more than happy to sleep on a bed rather than this sofa."
Harry smiled a toothy grin, all signs of embarrassment gone, "Okay. Come on."
Draco followed him to his dorm room.
In their past months of friendship, they had never hung out in Harry's dorm room; it was either Draco's room or some other part of the castle.
The room was slightly messy, much more cleaner than Draco's and very Gryffindor-ish. The drapes and duvets were a deep maroon color, making Draco wince.
Green was definitely his favorite color.
One side of the room, which Draco assumed used to be Weasley's, was completely empty. Not a speck of dust or a thing out of place. On the other hand, Harry's side of the room was full of his personal belongings. Photographs of him and the Weasley family were attached on the wall. A photograph of his parents was set on his side table; a man resembling Harry with hazel eyes and a woman with dark red hair and green eyes stood smiling and dancing with each other.
Harry caught him smiling fondly at the picture, "This is one of the few photos I have of my parents." He picked it up and admired it.
"You must really miss them." Draco looked at his smiling mother, remembering his own with a pang of his heart.
"I do, even if I've never met them." He smiled bitterly.
"I'm sorry, Harry." Draco sat down next to him on his bed and gave his shoulder a small squeeze.
"It's fine." Harry shook his head.
"You look alot like your father, but your eyes, they're your-"
"-mothers. Yes, everyone tells me that." Harry chuckled and looked at him, inhaling sharply when their faces were really close to each other.
Draco parted his lips and stared into his eyes, he could've just leaned forward-
"So- uh- should we get to sleep?" Harry scooted away with a cough. "Classes tomorrow."
"Yeah, let's sleep." Draco gave him a tight lipped smile and stood up, his heart thundering in his chest.
"Uh- Harry?" Draco suddenly realised that he had to sleep in Weasley's bed, "Do i have to sleep in that-?" He pointed to the other bed.
"Oh you can sleep in mine if you want?" Harry shrugged, "I'll sleep in Ron's bed."
"Thanks." Draco said in relief.
Harry grinned at him and moved to his best friend's bed.
He got into the covers, his mind still thinking about he was going to kiss the Harry.
"Goodnight."
"Goodnight Draco." He said sleepily.
Draco inhaled deeply, the pillow smelt like Harry. He loved the smell. Alot.
Fuck.
He should sleep.
Feelings can be sorted later.
Sleep is more important.
